Russians are used to that.
Money troubles invite the prospect of war to distract the public at home. That is true in any country.
That thinking brought down the Tsar, because of his involvement in WWI. I don’t know that we remember the lessons of anything that happened any more than twenty years ago, though.
How is NEWSWEAK’s “economy” doing?
It’s previous owner, the Washington Post, gave up on it.
It was sold for one dollar.
It is used as a tax loss by its current owners.
THe special forces are mopping up as we speak. THey just took Palymaria. These idiots are regurgitating Obama propoganda. Russia is still very active in Syria. Freaking clueless morons.
Russia has very low debt to GDP ratio, it is among the lowest ratios in the world. Most of its external debt is private. Its debt to GDP ratio was in 2014 under 12%
The lessons of 9-11 have already been forgotten by the new crop of youth in college. That’s a 15 year span.
I am sure the 60% drop in oil has something to do with it. That doesn’t seem to connect with Putin’s watch or not, to me. I am sure a complex causative web can be posited between one and the other. Or vice versa, as needed.
I have to remind myself that 9/11 isn’t a recent memory for a growing number of folks. Getting old creates a lengthening perspective that you have to experience to appreciate. Of course, by then nobody wants to hear about it. LOL
Of course you do have plenty of time to polish up your war stories and tall tales.
Speaking of tall tales:
Yesterday I was buying 2 large bags of Purina dog chow at WalMart for my dogs Shadow and Lady.
I was about to check out when a woman behind me asked if I had a dog.
What did she think, that I had an elephant?
Since I had little else to do, on impulse, I told her that No, I didn’t have a dog - that I was starting the Purina Diet again, although I probably shouldn’t because I ended up in the hospital last time.
On the bright side though, I’d lost 50 pounds before I awakened in intensive care with tubes coming out of every hole in my body and IVs in both arms.
I told her that it was essentially a perfect diet and that the way that it works is to load your pockets with Purina nuggets and simply eat one or two every time you feel hungry and that the food is nutritionally complete so I was going to try it again.
(I have to mention here that practically everyone in the line was enthralled with my story by now.)
Horrified, She asked : “Did you end up in intensive care because the dog food had poisoned you?”
I said: No not at all; I had stopped in the middle of the parking lot to lick my ass and a car hit me.
The guy behind her was laughing so hard, I thought he was going to have a heart attack!
Walmart won’t let me shop there anymore.
I don’t know if that’s a true story, but it’s funny.
This is true ...
I walked into a Chili’s restaurant and believe it or not,
the greeter said, “Can I help you?”
Without missing a beat, I said, “Yeah, I’d like some food.”
There was a long pause, then she took me to a table.
I can’t stop laughing!!
The dog food story I got off the internet. It cracked me up.
LOL. You have a good one there about Chili’s.
If you can stand one more account, this my true story-
I once walked into a wedding and the young usher was seating people on either side of the aisle by asking “ The bride or the groom?” If one said the bride, they were seated on the left side and the right side was for the groom’s family and friends.
So he asked his question. I replied “ the bridegroom”. That confused him so I said “the groom” to help him out. Then I had my seat.
I laughed out loud myself when I first read it. Im glad you are enjoying it. :)
Heh.
Will pass it on after the Holy Days.
You got me. The best part is I thought you were being serious until I got to the parking lot incident.
I agree. I don’t know if there has ever been a decade in the history of Russia where there hasn’t been a disaster of one nature or another.
You ought to see my first joke on my homepage about Lent. :)
