DONALD TRUMP OPEN TO NUCLEAR RETALIATION AFTER BRUSSELS ATTACK
Reena Flores CBS News March 24, 2016 Donald Trump is not ruling out the use of nuclear weapons in the U.S. fight against the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), according to an interview with the GOP front-runner that aired on Bloomberg TV Wednesday.
Asked if he would consider nuclear retaliation after this week's terror attacks in Brussels, Trump responded: "Well, I'm never gonna rule anything out. And I wouldn't wanna say. Even if I felt -- it wasn't going -- I wouldn't wanna tell you that because, at a minimum, I want them to think maybe that we would use it."
"The fact is that we need unpredictability," Trump said of his openness to using nuclear weapons. "When you ask a question like that, it's a very - it is a very sad thing to have to answer it because the enemy is watching and I have a very good chance of winning. I frankly don't want the enemy to know how I'm thinking. But with that being said, I don't rule out anything."
When pressed on whether he would have utilized America's nuclear capabilities after September 11, Trump said that he would only have used it as a "last resort."
During his interview, Trump emphasized that terrorists "are winning" and "we don't do anything about it."

I'm a Cruz man, and I found nothing wrong with what Trump said in the interview. You do not tell the enemy what you are unwilling to do to it: that is the whole point of deterrence.
BTW, I’ve said since 9/11 that the US should have an official “Doomsday List”. Put all the countries that we think have nuclear programs and ties to terrorists (Iran, Pakistan, NK, etc.) on it and announce that if terrorists explode a nuke in the USA or against our forces we will immediately launch a nuclear strike against all those countries. In order to be taken off that list they must do whatever we demand to convince us they are not a threat to give nukes to terrorists. No negotiating, either comply or pray no terrorists nuke America whether they had anything to do with it or not.

Given that the Islamicists will nuke us if they ever get the chance, the fear of retaliation reason for not nuking them first is irrelevant.
There are legitimate grounds, at the moment, for not nuking ISIS-held territory. OTOH, failure to eliminate their sanctuaries will, eventually, remove governmental inhibitions about nuking them and their subject peoples, to glass.
There’s all manner of earth shattering kabooms that Trump could use without having to split a single atom. And as far as I know, Obama isn’t using them, at least not very much.
Also the fallout problem with actual nukes remains. They have to be worth a desperation move that would pollute a large segment of the world with radioactivity. That’s pretty desperate. Do we think the business minded Trump is going to be reckless with this? I don’t think so.

Lyndon Johnson used fear to scare voters away from Goldwater, lying about how his own weak strategy was working. The one that would go on to cost 50,000 American lives and lose the war.
