When the Ford Motor Co. decided to move jobs south to Mexico so that it could pay its workers less, billionaire businessman Donald Trump was furious. He made trade inequalities and Ford’s betrayal of American workers a central issue of his campaign.

And, without his even being in the Oval Office, it worked.

In an interview with CNBC, Ford CEO Mark Fields said that the automaker would be “here to stay.” He also said he had outlined his company’s plans in a letter to Trump.

As for congress, the "wall" has already passed and is funded. As for the judicial branch, you think defending our borders is unconstitutional?

There is still the matter of deporting millions of illegals. With the court system that is still a very time consuming process. There is also still the matter of the status of children born in the US. That will be a judicial debate. The wall may have passed congress but with the number of Republican Senators up for re-election it could swing to a Schumer led Senate and with any government boondoggle the funds are never enough.

So, either the company toes the government line, or the base price for a F150 is going from $26,430 to $35,500.

Or option C, the price goes from $26,430 to $35,500 regardless of where they make it and they blame the government for it.

Let’s begin by terminating EPA regulations.

In a truly free economy the government should stay out of trade agreements, especially those with multiple partners.

“So you think it’s good for the President to be making the decisions on how to run a company like Ford?”

I for one think it’s a good idea for the president to be *talking about* the consequences of our—yes, our—manufacturers moving to the Bean Congo or other third-world crapholes.

I didn’t say he should be forbidding them to move, but we should all be more aware of what it costs us.

The president should also be looking at the ways the executive branch makes the US a hostile environment for business, and taking measures to correct the situation. Abolishing the EPA, for instance.

I didn’t say that. I think you’re responded to the wrong person.

There is still the matter of deporting millions of illegals...

I get that. I never figured they'd all get deported whoever won the election. If we deport the criminals and welfare recipients and make sure the others pay taxes. I'd be good with that frankly. And then at least we have a controlled border that is 30 years too late.

“the business complies not because it is a good idea”

A good idea for whom? For Ford, for America, or for the current top executives of Ford?

It’s bad for America and the American people, and in the long term for Ford. Is the national interest to receive no consideration whatsoever?

“Government’s job is to make sure that the environment and financial conditions exist that make a company realize it’s in their best interest to stay in the U.S. and employ U.S. workers.”

If that’s the case we are all screwed !!

Ford is NOT backing off the Mexican expansion. That work goes on. What Ford did say was “we are here in the US to stay”. In other words, they are not planning on moving their corporate offices overseas for tax reasons. And they wrote Mr. Trump a nice letter. Which he will brag about. Even though it means no more than the paper it was written on. Companies will do what makes financial sense. So long as it makes financial sense for some manufacturing to take place in other countries, that will happen. You notice Ford doesn’t built it European cars in the US. Toyota builds its American market cars in American plants.

This is PR.

On this day in 1981, President Ronald Reagan fired more than 11,000 air traffic controllers who ignored his order to return to work. The sweeping mass firing of federal employees slowed commercial air travel, but it did not cripple the system as the strikers had forecast.

Nice try.

If that's the case, did Cruz get a letter?

“How is allowing companies the freedom to move goods as they choose without government intervention subsidizing foreign exploiters?”

Because there is always intervention by the government of the thief nation. The thief nation always uses the situation to exploit us. And why wouldn’t they? Do we really expect the government of Thailand or China to be guided by ethical considerations, by concern for our welfare?

“Companies will do what makes financial sense.”

It use to be that simple .. capitalism works

But we are not seeing pure capitalism .. we are seeing an oligarchy and it is getting worse everyday. Our politicians have sold the us down the river for chump change.
