NEW YORK — Texas Sen. Ted Cruz cr97% claimed that if nobody manages to earn the needed 1,237 delegates prior to the Republican National Convention, he will win the nomination “one way or the other” at the convention. Cruz rallied supporters at the Women’s National Republican Club in midtown Manhattan Wednesday afternoon in an effort to win over New York voters. Although the Texas Republican received cheers for the shots he took at New York Democrats, he was later asked by reporters how he could possibly smooth over relations with Empire State residents after describing Donald Trump as having “New York values” at a debate last month.
“Coming from New York, you all have seen first-hand the disasters that come from liberal democratic policies that are foisted on the people of New York. And Donald Trump over and over again has been supporting Andrew Cuomo and Hillary Clinton and Anthony Weiner and Eliot Spitzer and Charlie Rangel,” Cruz told his supporters.
“So next time you think about all the disastrous policies that have been foisted on the people of New York, you can thank Donald Trump for bankrolling those efforts,” he said, later noting that the New York primary, a contest of 95 delegates, is a “battleground” state for him and that he plans to compete here “vigorously.”

To be fair to Cruz, if I really thought I had that spiritual Midas touch, I’d be trying to use it to benefit America.

To be sure, I think a Christian implementation of theocracy would be kinder (at least at first) than an Islamic one. Allah ain’t Christ.
Trouble is, this is a spiritually unstable situation. The bible only backs this mission when Jesus is literally back in the flesh. America attempted various flavors of it. The result was a combination of dumbed-down church with whitewashed government. We can thank it for Prohibition and the counterproductive way we have a War On Drugs that nobody is seriously trying to win.

Mix together the fervent religious-revival aspect of Cruz’s campaign, fiscal chicanery of Neil Bush, advisors from the cratered Jeb! campaign, endorsements from Romney who failed in 2012 even worse than McCain in 2008, McCain himself, and top it off with a radio host / promoter who thinks he’s talking to God. What could go wrong?

If I knew nothing more about Ted Cruz than I knew at the very beginning, I might consider it plausible. But Dominionism changes the whole story. This is kookiness on the level of prosperity gospel.

This spiritual pipsqueak who’s even unclear on asking forgiveness (if pressed he will refer to the reminder of how Jesus asked forgiveness on his behalf) may show all those holier-than-thou rollers up. All these GOPe former candidates now support Cruz. Jeb, Romney, et al. They have probably been promised Cabinet positions for their support. The GOPe is not going to let Trump walk away with the nomination, even if he gets the required number of delegates to the convention. Their credentials will be questioned and revoked at every turn. The un-tethered delegates will be cajoled, coerced and threatened if they don’t support the GOPe ‘Chosen One’. This convention in July will be like Chicago 1968 Democrat Convention all over again.............................
