Pro amnesty Cruz did nothing to stop the gang of 8 bill, it passed the Senate remember. Cantor losing his election to an unknown who campaigned solely to stop amnesty killed the gang of 8 bill. This is a well known fact.

He killed it by making them send an unpassable version back to the house. Pretty skillful maneuvering if you ask me. Cruz had been working to bring the attempts of the establishment in both parties to light before Trump stepped in a truly brought it to the fore front.

Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz said Friday that he proposed five amendments that would bar citizenship and other benefits for illegal immigrants as a “poison pill” to kill rival Marco Rubio’s “Gang of Eight” legislation in 2013.

“My amendment was a one-page amendment that said anyone here illegally is permanently ineligible for citizenship,” the first-term Texas senator told Greta Van Susteren on Fox News. “It was calling their bluff because what it did was revealed hypocrisy.”

Bull

In the June 10, 2014, Republican primary, despite internal campaign polls placing him 30 points ahead of his opponent and his spending advantage (Cantor outspent his opponent 40 to 1), Cantor lost to Tea Party candidate Dave Brat in a major upset, 44.5%–55.5%. This made him the first sitting House majority leader to lose a primary since the position was created in 1899. His loss in the primary was described by the Los Angeles Times as "one of the greatest political upsets of modern times." His loss was attributed to numerous factors including a moderating of his views after entering House leadership

Pro Amnesty Cantor defeat is what killed the gang of 8 bill in the House. Cruz had nothing to do with it since Cruz was pro legalization for illegals.

“He killed it by making them send an unpassable version back to the house.”

I ma curious, why do you believe a proven liar, Calgary Ted, when he spouts this line but you do not believe Rubio when he says the Gang of 8 bill was never meant to pass and he just wanted to start the immigration conversation?

“...Earlier in 2013, during an interview with CBS News, Cruz hinted at support for legal status when asked what should be done about the millions of illegal immigrants already in the U.S.

“I think there probably could be a compromise on that,” Cruz responded, “if a path to citizenship was taken off the table.”...”
