It sounds like nothing of the kind. Terrorism exists on campuses. Shootings happen. Even the police and military conduct unannounced training ops in cities and scare the hell out of people.
Maybe if you consider books as a source of cleaning paper to pull through the barrel of your rifle you think this is a trivial situation, but the basic idea of giving clear warning to people you KNOW fear guns is mandatory.

You need to watch the movie, Stripes. It’d be the extent of your military acumen but it might alert you to the diff between drills and exercises. ROTC marches in the quads; terrorists don’t. Not even SWAT teams do that. Watch your panic button; you sound like you belong on HUFFPO. BTW, I didn’t call you a dope. Even if you obviously know little about rifles, the military, exercises, drills, terrorism. And probably books, too for that matter.
