A Linn County man who farms near Albany could face big daily water-pollution fines from the federal Environmental Protection Agency because he has failed to remove or get permits for a massive rock and earthen dike he built along the North Santiam River.
William Case, 77, could be fined $37,500 a day for violations to the federal Clean Water Act, according to a lawsuit the EPA filed last month in U.S. District Court in Eugene.

The fed employee payroll could be cut in half, and if judiciously done, would not adversely affect one person in America.
I agree.
The Beltway is the only place in America that homes are selling for more than the asking price.
Rocks in a river cause pollution? Go figure. Only in the little statist’s mind in DC thinks this.
One thing not mentioned in the story is how the EPA got information on this riverbank repair.
They are running drones around the country and cataloging everything via aerial photography. Simple program to look for changes from one year to the next, and bam, you are busted. Here is your $37,000/day fine.
But there is no way we can spot illegals swarming into our country from the south. </s

You might want to say this is Oregon - I knew of Albany NY and Albany GA.
Each state, in order to receive and use federal dollars, must show that their state version of the EPA has agreements with the EPA and their laws are in place that basically gives them the same authority.
Not every state does this.
Way to conspiratorial. The State agency ratted him out. It’s part of their requirement to report to the EPA any violations, lest they be fined as well. By fined it would be a reduction in future funding.
To the EPA and the other authorities it doesn’t matter that he made it better. Their was a gal in Washington state that had a farm. On one side of the farm was a county road and a bridge.
People would toss crap into the creek and slopes - tires, washing machines, etc. And of course it was all overgrown with blackberries and stuff.
So she decided to clear it all out. Got in trouble for destroying native plants and working in the creek.
Thank you for referencing that article Twotone. Please bear in mind that the following critique is directed at the article and not at you.
With all due respect to mom & pop, please consider the following. If the parents of the referenced farmer had made sure that their son was taught about the federal governments constitutional limited powers the way that the Founding States had intended for those powers to be understood, then the farmer would probably be able to argue the following against the EPA.
From related threads ...
The major constitutional problem with all federal regulatory agencies is this imo. The Founding States had made the first numbered clauses in the Constitution, Sections 1-3 of Article I, evidently a good place to hide these clauses from Congress, to clarifiy that all federal legislative powers are vested in the elected members of Congress, not in the executive or judicial branches, or in the non-elected federal bureaucrats running so-called federal regulatory agencies like EPA and IRS.
So Congress has a constitutional monopoly on federal legislative powers whether it wants it or not. But by delegating federal legislative / regulatory powers to non-elected federal officials outside the legislative branch, Congress is wrongly protecting such powers from the wrath the of the voters in blatant defiance of Sections 1-3 mentioned above imo.
But whats even worse about the EPA is this. The states have never delegated to the feds, expressly via the Constitution, the specific power to regulate, tax and spend for INTRAstate environmental issues. So not only is Congress wrongly delegating regulatory powers to federal officials outside the legislative branch, but Congress is delegating powers that the states have never delegated to Congress!
Also, consider that by letting everybody outside the legislative branch steal legislative powers to make unconstitutional federal government policies, corrupt lawmakers are protecting their voting records, probably to fool low-information patriots into reelecting them.
Remember in November !
When patriots elect Trump, Cruz, or whatever conservative they elect, they need to also elect a new, state sovereignty-respecting Congress that will not only work within its constitutional Article I, Section 8-limited powers to support the new president, but also protect the states from unconstitutional federal government overreach, including abolishing unconstitutional federal regulatory agencies like the EPA and IRS.
Also, consider that such a Congress would probably be willing to fire state sovereignty-ignoring activist justices.
Excellent comments! I’ve been pushing all the candidates I’ve met to familiarize themselves with the federal land issue & how we need to force the fed gov’t to return state lands. Most have been receptive. That would be a good way to start reducing the size of the gov’t by eliminating the agencies that ‘manage’ these lands. And then we can tackle the agencies that are involving themselves where they have no constitutional authority.
No, every county in the country is now digitally imaged annually. Cost used to be an issue but those costs have plummeted in the last few years.
The cameras used to be as big as the top of a washing machine and weighed a lot. Today they are the size of a pack of cigarettes, and weigh about the same as those smokes.
President Trump - please put the EPA on your list of places to put enema nozzles.
Thanks
