The House in Idaho has passed S 1389 restore permitless carry. SB 1389 passed the Senate 27-8. It passed out of the House committee yesterday, March 17th. It will be sent to Governor Butch Otter. Governor Otter has been shown to be a Second Amendment supporter in the past. It seems likely that he will sign SB 1389. It is an incremental step that is not far off of existing law in Idaho. Governor Otter signed the Idaho campus carry bill in the face of intense opposition by the powerful higher education lobby in Idaho. The Idaho Sheriffs Association has endorsed the bill. They do not endorse legislation unless they have at least a two thirds majority of their members in favor of the legislation. The Fraternal Order of Police endorsed the bill. It has been expected that Idaho would pass a permitless or Constitutional carry law for a decade or more. Internal disagreements among Republicans have killed previous bills. Development of a strong grass roots organization pushing for permitless carry, appears to be what has motivated the legislators to pass this bill. It seems that powerful committee chairs in the House opposed permitless carry. From Idaho Reporter.com: Three high-profile Republican House members opposed a bill Friday that would allow permitless concealed carry throughout Idaho. Despite the opposition from most House Democrats and Reps. Maxine Bell, R-Jerome, Rep. Rich Wills, R-Glenns Ferry, and Fred Wood, R-Burley, the bill cleared the chamber on 54 to 14 vote and now moves to Gov. Butch Otters desk for his consideration. There has likely been similar opposition in the Senate. Constitutional carry is derived from the state of law that existed when the Bill of Rights, including the Second

Good for idaho.
Can someone explain why if this same state legalized homosexual marriage, other states would be forced to recognize it. But when they legalize Constitutional carry, other states do not have to recognize it. What’s the difference in the Laws?
It is all about the progressive agenda homosexual marriage is seen as a way to destroy the social fabric of this country.
Promoting 2nd amendment rights help maintain the fabric of this country.
Because the Roberts court, with the late Justice Scalia in scalding dissent, has ruled that homo marriages are sacrosanct all across the fruited plain.
They’re all getting prepared for the next group of islamic muslims that mullah obama is bringing in and dispersing in all of our cities!
Excellent!
Now if only other states and the US Congress would do the same.
I guess that means the gang bangers can legally care too? Not that they care if they’re legal. Sounds like we are heading for civil war.
well it might not have been a bad swap.......guns for queers
there’s lots more guns
Governor Otter signed the Idaho campus carry bill in 2014, so I expect this one will be signed quickly too.
...and it is about time.
So, in Idaho we now have Openn Carry thoughout the state, Constitutinal carry (conceraled permit-less carry), Concealed carry, and Campus Carry.
Which is to say that Idaho has now passed four different bills that punctuate and put into modern “Acts” what the 2nd Amendment has said all along.
The right of the people to bear arms shall not be infringed!
...and in SD open carry, concealed carry with permit, and enhanced carry permit with reciprocity, but campus carry and permitless carry DOA. Primarily due to LE of all kinds testifying against, for “public Safety” reasons. One should be grateful for what one has, but “shall not be infringed” is a forgotten phrase and “gun free zones” keep criminals at bay /s.
