Google executives supported the overthrow of EGYPT during the so-called Arab Spring. Now it appears that they were supporting the overthrow of SYRIA.

"Wael Ghonim, Google exec, says Egypt's revolution is 'like Wikipedia'"

http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/technology/2011/02/wael-ghonim-google-exec-says-egypts-revolution-is-like-wikipedia.html

--

“We are very, very proud of what Wael Ghonim was able to do in Egypt, they were able to use a set of technologies that included Facebook, Twitter and number of others to really express the voice of the people. And that is a good example of transparency. And we wish them very much the best. I have talked to him. We are very, very proud of what he has done.” said Google’s CEO and Leader Mr Schmidt in Barcelona.

--

It troubles me very much how a US company can stir international conflict with our government's backing.

Russia and China know everything about what our government is doing.
This explains so much.
Zuckerberg can pack his bags.
They aren’t going to allow any foreign insurgent agents in China.

I was at a meeting recently where a former Disciplinary Counsel for the State (the person that goes after attorneys engaging in ethical lapses or malpractice) said she would consider it a per se ethical violation for an attorney to communicate with clients via Gmail. She said, “you do know they are reading everything you send and there is no privacy with Gmail, don’t you?”

Silicon Valley wants a return on their huge donations to the Democratic Party. It is clear they can manipulate the foreign policy of the United States if for no other reason than to massage the egos of their executives. “OK try calling me a nerd now! I have power! I do, I do, I do!” Try to imagine the outcry if it was Wall Street guys who tried to do that.

I often wondered how large U.S. corporations were in relation to countries. I picked five companies and ranked them by their sales in relation to the GDP's of 188 countries. Exxon at 433.4billion ranks 29th. Wal-Mart at 446.95billion sales ranks 28th. General Electric at 142.95billion sales ranks 58th. Ford at 136.27billion sales ranks 59th. Berkshire Hathaway at 130billion sales ranks 60th. ATT at 126.72billion sales ranks 61st.

Thinking of this article Google would rank 71st of 188 countries.

List of countries by GDP (nominal)

like some computer programming outfit has ANY business AT ALL conspiring to overthrow foreign governments...!????? WTF!
WTF!

(and just look at what the results have been... thousands of people slaughtered with mass-scale attacks and murders of Christians there included. plus, much of the country is leveled, destroyed

like a lousy computer programming outfit is supposed to be overthrowing governments and pushing the world to the brink of a much much larger war?

this needs to be investigated, seriously investigated!

(and Google shareholders should REVOLT and toss the guilty ‘mangers’ right out the window!)

Major corporations/cartels have always been able and willing to involve themselves in international/regional affairs. It's a profit / resources / plantation kind of thing.
What's changed is that paying off local nationals who could influence government or economic decisions has been replaced by information management that goes to both the lords and the peasants.
Today it is possible (simple) to destabilize a government that might oppose your "interests", to mobilize the opposition to that government, to support that same government against "extremists", or to do all three while embellishing the merits of the chosen victor.

1984 just a little bit late?

This sounds like a bad tinfoil hat conspiracy theory. If true, it’s on a level with Spectre, Drax, Zorin, Elliot Carver, Quantum, and various other Bond villains.

Oh Assad was such a despot. Yet look at the forces of evil he was up against. Head-chopping, genocidal lunatics.

Even the slightest transgression in our own country is met with deadly government force: Ruby Ridge, Waco, Lavoy Finicum.

Yet Assad, who protected minority sects as head of a secular government, is supposedly evil.

He’s only evil because he opposed having a Qatari pipeline forced through his country.
