I thought Jesus said his kingdom is no part of this world, and to give Caesars thing to Caesar and God’s things to God. I just don’t believe the second coming is through any politician.

Taylor is important to the Mormons for several reasons one being he was with Joseph Smith in the jail in 1844 when Smith got himself killed by his Freemason brothers..
At the time Smith was running for POTUS ...to be president for life...
He had already crowned himself king of the world...
