Denver has just released its crime statistics for February of this year, and the city's post-marijuana crime explosion continues.
In the first two months of 2016, total reported offenses using the NIBRS definitions are up a further 10.5% over this time last year. Crimes against persons have increased 14.1%, property crimes are up 13.8%, and crimes against society are up 18.4% compared to the same time frame in 2015.
For comparison, in January and February of 2013 the last year for these two months before marijuana legalization there were just 6,791 crimes in the city. During January and February of 2016, there were 9,985, a 47% increase over the same period from 2013.

At 75 that is not a problem.
Some studies indicate pot may help Alzheimer’s.
When it becomes legal for medicinal use in Florida, I would consider using it.
Legal Statins almost killed me.
I don’t smoke or drink and just retired. At this point, something that could improve “quality of life” is looking pretty damn attractive.
I have seen stop signs with flashing blinkers. Others have a sign underneath, “Cross traffic does not stop”. Oh, really?
Anyway, I like marijuana-themed threads like this one. There is a vast cultural divide between those who drink & those who toke. Saw it in Vietnam; I was in a helicopter unit where pilots who got smashed every night but made takeoff the next morning were considered normal. Teetotalers not so much; they were always suspected of using.
Bottom line, IMO: marijuana is not a harmless victimless drug. That’s being borne out in Alaska & Colorado.
This may be a correlation/causation error. Denver, and the other pot liberation cities, are also sanctuary cities. Pot use probably wouldn’t be a problem if it had been limited to the previous peaceful population, but they’ve imported a set of folks who don’t follow the rules.
LOL! Maybe she got turned down for a “dispensary” license or something.
Here is the Murder and Crime stats for the 30 largest US cities, 2014-2015 (pdf file). If anyone wants to do a comparison with marijuana legalization, feel free.

Does pot cooked in food have a weaker or stronger effect
on people than pot smoked in cigarettes?
It was a hard fought battle but I think we’re on the upside for now anyway. When the VA doc told me he “didn’t care for biologics” as his reason I about fell off the exam table. I’d been using them for about 8 years with no harmful side effects. With his prescription, my stomach was screwed up for 3 days after the dosing. Lucky for me he said whatever the rheumo doc said, he’d go along with. Still battling with the VA since apparently my retirement income exceeds their threshold. Weird that my income during my enlistment was probably below poverty levels. :>)
The crap bags are going there from other states.

That’s one of the main reasons I love federalism. Too bad the same wasn’t done with gay marriage.
Of course the left booze and cigarettes on the list. Say what? In any case, it’s so innocent that there will be an initiative on the 2016 ballot in NV to “tax and regulate” marijuana sales. I’m sure nothing bad will come of that.
...
NV already has some of the most violent neighborhoods in the country. But it could also be on the ballot to do nothing more than draw in more votes for the Rats.
That is an interesting site you linked.
My son and I recently traveled to Chicago and New Orleans (by train, it was a wonderful and fun experience).
When my husband picked us up after the trip, he snidely commented that we were still alive after spending a whole day in Chicago.
He picked us up in Washington, DC. We drove through Baltimore on the way home. Of the three cities, the murder rate in Chicago is the lowest...
Crimes against society
The only cure is Social Justice. /s
I explained, if you know people who do it and there's not a way to convince them otherwise, consider them dropping out of competition in the near future. So far no issues, but we'll see how they deal when they move out and go off on their own. That's when it got the guy's kid... his GF was into it.
Yeah, that and the nannie bloomers/mummunist/margabby kelly-giffords intergalactic background checks.
If there truly is a medicinal quality in marijuana, then the best case scenario is for the medicinal component(s) to be isolated and characterized, then for standard doses, treatment regimen, etc., to be worked out.
So far, the medical benefits attributed to marijuana use are anecdotal.
Many natural compounds are used as drugs. The medicinally active ingredients of an organism are identified, tested, etc., and finally sold in standardized form by drug companies. That way, the dose can be strictly controlled. If you try to use herbs for medicinal purposes, you really have no idea how much of the active compound you are getting—whether it’s too little to be effective, or so much that it injures and could possibly kill you. Examples of natural compounds used as drugs are aspirin (from willow bark), digitalis (from foxglove), penicillin (from a kind of yeast), and taxol (from the Pacific yew tree).
Yes, but all that was before Trump.
