Ted Cruz has earned a defector from the shuttered campaign of Marco Rubio: Phil Gramm, the former Texas senator once cited by Mr. Cruz as “the senator I most admire.”
Mr. Gramm, 73, who began his career in Congress as a Democrat and became a top economic adviser to John McCain’s 2008 presidential campaign, called Mr. Cruz “a fearless leader and fighter for conservatives.”
Mr. Cruz, a Texas senator, praised Mr. Gramm for his opposition to health care legislation during President Bill Clinton’s administration. “Phil stood firm and unequivocally with the American people,” Mr. Cruz said.
The endorsement comes as Mr. Cruz hopes to consolidate support among Republicans opposed to Donald J. Trump. In recent weeks, he has attracted the endorsements of Carly Fiorina, Senator Mike Lee of Utah and Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, who was once a bitter foe.

His was the last campaign I actively worked on in ‘84.
Because if Ted is elected, Phil will get some of “the spoils of war brought back to the priests”, if Trump wins, he gets nothing. There is a real likelihood that the “priests” are establishment hacks, not Ted’s evangelical supporters.
Phil Graham was ok. In 96’ he was most like the class of 94 Contract With America congress. Unfortunately he was self addmitedly ‘too ugly’.

I remember when ol Phil was a Dem....so, this will Put away the tired ....”but, but Trump was a Dem before he was Pubbie” mantra. Yay!!
Doesn’t change my support or vote for Trump one tiny bit. And, my guess is none of the other Trump supporters on FR care either.

Trump keep saying he is a “uniter”, and he is right - he is uniting all parts of the party against him - conservatives and GOPe alike. The cartel doesn’t want Cruz - they even tried to get him to apologize before they would support him. But here they come, on his terms not theirs. And that is because they recognize that a Trump nomination would not only result in a Hillary win - he is the ONLY GOP candidate she has consistently run ahead of, and the only one with worse ratings on honesty and favorability than she has - but the size of his loss would wipe out the GOP in Congress as well.
The GOPe is circling the wagons around Ted Cruz. My questions what price did Ted have to pay for all these endorsements? I bet he sold out the good of the country for a chance to be President. Cruz has prostituted himself.
