Stocker trivialized concerns that parents might raise about the possibility of sexual activity in the all-gender cabins, stating that students had been taught to sensitively articulate both the policies in place prohibiting the behavior and the underlying heteronormativity of the concern. This might be the single worst excuse I've ever heard.

This would be laughable if it weren’t for the fact that it is some kind of insanity.

“stating explicitly that the school did not obtain parental permission for the move”
Fine, then when the first sexual assault happens, the school will be stuck with full liability.

This is the type of stuff they made movies about back in the 70s and 80s. Nobody believed it could ever happen, but it was fun for teenage boys to dream about.

Dear Mr. Stocker (or, if you prefer, Ms. Stocker):
Eventually you will meet your Creator. You will NOT find it a joyous occasion! For YOUR sake, as well as the kids that non-thinking parents allow under your charge, please change before it is too late for them AND YOU!
Sincerely,
A Formerly Proud Canadian

I’m beginning to wonder if there might be some kind of mass insanity taking place.

I would argue that the gender might be undecided at the specific school in question. And if known, the sexual proclivities might not be as you might expect.
Unstated is what happens between a transvestite and a girl if she changes he mind mid tryst?

According to our 42nd just “put some ice on it”.

Maybe it's the fluoride in the water or something.
For thousands of years people have understood without explanation EXACTLY what will happen when teenage boys and girls get naked around each other. Even those without any morals who were fine with the consequences didn't deny the inevitable.

I think that translates to: The kids won’t have sex because we told them not to.
Yeah, that ~always~ works.

It’s so bizarre. There have always been individuals who made foolish decisions, but for states and institutions to put this kind of nuttiness into place is beyond foolish.

Culture dictated by government? The Soviets did that they had to massacre millions to impose it and the damage will take a few more generations to heal.

Or not, I assume. Do parents have the option of excluding their children from all school trips or is that now mandatory, too?
