You hit the nail on the head! I have been saying this exact same thing. Schumer played it well — got the young, “up-and-coming,” fresh-faced Republican “Golden Boy” to be the face of the very thing that Schumer knew would put the stake right through his political heart. Rubio was a piker and was so eager to make a name for himself, he let himself get seduced by Schumer.

Said he was against amnesty. Got elected as a Tea Party man then joined Schumer and the gang of 8.
Pushed their amnesty B.S. and so much for young marco.
Buh Bye marco.

Why Rubio Struck Out

Because he is a smarmy used car salesman-like traitor.

50% of Americans don’t pay federal taxes thanks to the Bush tax cuts. Taxes on families are low due to expanded child tax credits. I personally feel taxes, regardless how low, need to be paid by everyone. That income tax line on a pay statement is the most effective way to make people into fiscal conservatives. The Bush tax cuts did the opposite.

Yep - if you don’t pay taxes you don’t vote that year. If you take ANY govt. money, including farm subsidies, you don’t get to vote for 20 years. If you work for a corporation that gets some kind of subsidy - you don’t get to vote.

That alone would solve most of the problems in the US.

How many people could actually vote then?
It would be interesting to know.

Obviously old people like myself would be off the rolls.

Re: “Rubio vacated his Florida Senate seat to embark on a fool’s errand, chasing a ghost he never had any chance of capturing.”

He also vacated because he knew he could not be re-elected to the U.S. Senate from Florida.

In the Florida Republican Presidential primary, Rubio only got 27% of the vote - from his own Party in his home state!

Rubio got crushed because he betrayed Republicans on the critical issue of immigration.

Everything else in the posted article is political nonsense.

That was the main reason: the gang of 8.

I have to disagree with the list of his positives. He spoke like a robot, he had accomplished nothing, he was not a nbc, and appeared more like a college punk than leader of the free world. During one debate he acted like a juvenile and suddenly was kept attacking Trump with silly slurs and not specifics. I never understood and still do not why anybody would think he could handle the job of president.

My take on Rubio.

I think he was very polished, looks good, speaks well. I’m amazed at how well he speaks—it does sound rehearsed but then when you realize some of the questions that came up the answer couldn’t be rehearsed.

While it wasn’t presidential I thought it was funny as hell when he attacked Trump. It was giving Trump a taste of his own medicine. The Trump supporters didn’t like it but then no one likes when Trump attacks like a kid in school against the other people. So I was cool with it as I didn’t want Rubio to win anyway.

Re: “Schumer played it well — got the young, “up-and-coming,” fresh-faced Republican “Golden Boy” to be the face of the very thing that Schumer knew would put the stake right through his political heart.”

I disagree.

The first thing Rubio did after winning his Senate seat in 2010 was to hire a pro-Amnesty chief of staff - months before Schumer had any influence at all on Rubio.

And why did anti-Amnesty Republican Senators like Jeff Sessions have no influence on Rubio at all?

Rubio was always for Amnesty and always for massive LEGAL immigration.

Bottom Line - he lied to get elected. And it worked. But just once.

Like Cruz, Ruby is just a youngster.

He’ll come back a better candidate.

Folks forgot it took Reagan 3 tries.

Rubio struck out because he went into his weird robotic repeating skit- and everyone saw it and thought “Good golly- Is that how he’s going to act when he faces pressure while president?”-

plain and simple- That skit of his really really hurt him- irreparably- Had he not done that- (and perhaps had he not attacked Donald the way he did- sounding like a school yard insult fest- ) he likely would have done much better- but people were always waiting for him to fold again- dreading it- almost feeling sorry for him

All the other issues, like his policies, skipping key votes etc- could have been overcome- but not this- He left a very bad impression of himself when he did the robot thing- People felt they couldn’t depend on him when the going got tough

True. But then Trump is going to win the big ticket item on his first try ever in politics.

You’re definitely talking about Trump and that is factual. Whether you want to admit it or not.

I’m not sure I’m ready to label Trump a traitor just yet, but Rubio is positively a backstabbing traitor.
