What does “messiah” have to do with anything? That’s Jesus, and Jesus alone.
As far as “king,” that is a biblical term. It was used in the OT to describe leaders. And in the NT to describe followers of Christ. We are “kings and priests.” That term is biblical.
It is not “cultist” to encourage engagement in the various spheres of human life.
You’re sounding awfully defensive, WENDLE. Not sure why.
Are you saying that Ted Cruz is a “cultist” for believing that it is good and right to be salt and light in all of society? That it’s good to engage in, say, seven spheres of society? Do you not like the biblical term “dominion”? It is a biblical term, part of one of God’s commandments to us.
Defense this — You are in the 7MD sect. I will pray for your deliverance.
Let him begin by treating the Patriotism or the Pacifism as a part of his religion. Then let him, under the influence of partisan spirit, come to regard it as the most important part. Then quietly and gradually nurse him on to the stage at which the religion becomes merely part of the cause Once you have made the World an end, and faith a means, you have almost won your man, and it makes very little difference what kind of worldly end he is pursuing. Provided that meetings, pamphlets, policies, movements, causes, and crusades, matter more to him than prayers and sacraments and charity, he is ours and the more religious (on those terms) the more securely ours. I could show you a pretty cageful down here - CS LEWIS
CS Lewis warned us about people like you, Theo. God does not call us to political action. We can be salt and light and not believe we have to control culture before Christ comes back. We can even be salt and light without being involved in politics.
