Phones are public. SSNS are legally private and protected.
Not if some receptionist, etc., has it and leaks it because they can ne bought.
I don’t give anyone my SSN if I can help it.
Are they now? Maybe years ago but now doctors office wants you to put it on their forms and so do many other places if you want to do business with them.
