That must have been quite a wreck.
Sometimes God sends us messages to slow down on our toys. Mine happened in the middle of Death Valley, all alone on a big “Adventure Bike.” Fortunately I recovered myself. And I slowed way down after that.
I am confident the good Lord was just tapping him on the shoulder.
Wishing him a safe and speedy recovery.
Prayers sent. Thanks for posting update.
Man, I broke one rib once in a skiing accident and the pain was excruciating, especially when I coughed or laughed. I can’t imagine what he’s going through.
Why didn’t you post the updates? Not allowed or ?
Sounds like a dirt bike accident i was in a few years ago.
One second i was flying fast on the bike the next second i was waking up in a hospital bed 4 days later.
Got my first helicopter ride that day........unfortunately i was not awake to enjoy it.
Thank you for lifting Todd up in prayer. He's still in ICU under care of a superbly skilled staff. A long surgery repaired numerous breaks in Todd's upper body, docs essentially lifted and secured every rib with steel bands, anchored the broken clavicle with plates and rods, set aside repair of a broken shoulder for later (also later are more minor things like ACL/MCL knee injuries), still mechanically inflating one collapsed lung while other bruised lung, liver, etc., are watched; chest drain is working overtime to keep things clear.
Requiring a bit more than our usual fix-all up here - Duct tape - some gnarly incisions to enter his innards will be reminders of how life can change in the blink of an eye. (And skating through TSA detectors with bionic parts will now be anything but the blink of an eye!)
So thankful for today's medical technology including 3-D X-rays, temporary pain blocks and epidurals. I'm voting for their continued use until a resting position is found that allows minimal wincing with each breath.
We say Mat-Su Regional Hospital (http://matsuregional.com) is the best place to start life - all our babies are Mat-Su born - and these ER and ICU days show our local medical experts are most outstanding at continuing life, too... by the grace of God.
It's all good though, and I hope whatever challenges you face today - physical, emotional, financial - you'll have confidence in the care around you, and you'll apply Todd's consistent advice: "Don't sweat the small stuff."
Your care for Todd is more appreciated than I can express. Thank you. And thank you to the still-mysterious snowmachiner(s) who came upon the wreck and provided critical help that night. I hope to meet you soon!

At some point you put away child things
His reflexes are a little slower.
Take up hot tub sitting.
In my prayers
Update Ping to Sarah's List! ~ Sorry for Two Updates in a row, but I just felt it was important.
It sounds painful, but they are repairing everything. It does Not sound like there was any Spine or Head Injuries, but I still want too keep Praying.
From Sarah's Facebook, apparently Mat-Su Regional Hospital is better than KU Medical Center where I come from, God Bless whoever it was who found him:

Prayer up.
I’m selfishly thinking the need to take care of Todd is probably is going to take her out of contention for a cabinet position. She could probably still play an advisory role on energy policies. Rats.
Ping to the Todd Palin is an INCREDIBLE Hunk! ping list.
Yes. Prayers up for Todd. Hoping to read how this accident occurred sometime.
Wow. Snowmobiles are not toys. Nor are motorcycles.
More than a few of the riding crowd I knew in my yout’ broke ribs hips and more. I thank my lucky gene.
I cant imagine what lies ahead for Todd as he recupes, likely to be the end of his riding days for awhile.
Hang in there Todd and Good luck.
You are too sweet!
(HUGS!!!)
Prayers for Todd’s full recovery.
Scuba is plenty risky itself.
Wow, Todd is in truly bad shape. Thanks for the ping.
All my prayers to the Palin family.
Since when is scuba diving a safe sport.
I still dive with my brother; I’m 67, he’s 68.
I still do underwater dredging and sport diving, but there is no way diving is a safe sport.
Had a very good childhood friend die while diving off the California coast in 1973, accidents happen everywhere.
Back in the mid 1980's I had a gal on my coed softball team whose husband was killed in a snowmobile accident several years prior..........
Watch out for the barracudas .. they’re very fast after shinny objects ...
