WASHINGTON, March 17 (UPI) -- Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, held captive for five years by the Taliban, had a mental-health disorder marked by odd, eccentric behaviors and social isolation when he walked away from his post in Afghanistan in 2009, documents released by his defense team showed.
An Army Sanity Board Evaluation in July 2015 found Bergdahl had schizotypal personality disorder, a psychiatric condition marked by unusual fears and beliefs, the inability to form interpersonal relationships and eccentric behaviors. The condition is different from schizophrenia, which is marked by hallucinations and a disconnect from reality.

“I agree. He had a mental disorder. On the face of it, it’s called Liberalism.”
Or Islam.
Five American soldiers got killed searching for this useless POS! Trying to rescue him from the Jihadists.
Somehow I don’t think the grieving families of the fallen soldiers who were sent out to find him will take much comfort in this.
LMAO
aka....a pain in the a**
He has the John F’n Kerry syndrome. He’s an anti American / pro Islam progressive who tried to take matters into his own hands. He just expected the Taliban to be “nicer” and go back with him to slaughter the unit he’d been serving in.

From the Article - some of the causes:
Environmental factors, especially childhood experiences, may play a role in the development of this disorder. These factors include:
abuse
neglect
trauma or stress
having a parent who is emotionally detached (like his father seems to be in videos with wife and 0bama)
These clowns have redefined PTSD so you could get it in BCT. This is pure BS as PTSD was to be the same as shell shock. Bergdahl is a damn yellow belly coward. This punk needs Leavenworth for life. Hell, there are folks being medically retired and given VA disability for PTSD who never left Kuwait. Try an Army major who was never near a war. He has PTSD from duty in West Berlin. What BS.
No $hit. Thats why we kicked his ass out of the Coast Guard.
Yup.
Doesn’t sound like a valid legal defense to me. Betcha Leavenworth has some top notch doctors to treat whatever this is.
John McGraw, 78, was charged with assault and disorderly conduct in connection with the incident, Cumberland County Sheriffs Office spokesman Sean Swain told The Post on Thursday.
Maybe a Bergdahl plea would be a great defense/excuse for this John?
BS here we go with but the poor thing had some mental problem!!! Just who in the hell are we putting in the military today, where they would NOT protect their TEAM at ALL COSTS!!!! THIS CRAP is pure BS!!!!!!
If he didn’t get diagnosed before he deserted, then they can’t make that claim now.
my first thoughts well
this guy probably should have never been taken. that being said he is and was a desserter
Guess he walks!
Will he get off on a plea of insanity?
Physical disorder HUA
Yea...sure he did.
This language is being used by this administration and the Army lawyers to try and pave the way for some kind of simple dishonorable discharge for the guy.
That is what this is all about.
And they are donging it as cover for Obama.
You see, Obama wanted people initially to believe that his administration worked hard to get the Taliban to release an “American Hero” which was worth his emptying out our very worst captives in exchange.
This is what he figured...and he figured wrong..
1st Bergdahl was no “American Hero.” He was a deserter.
This kid signed up for the US Coast Guard and was rejected during boot camp because he was deemed unfit for duty.
He then somehow joined the Army and got through boot camp and was ultimately deployed to Afghanistan.
He has some kind of phantasy that was going to be doing more “Peace Corps,” humanitarian and aid work.
When he found out differently, he began complaining., His letters to his whacko dad contained those complaints.
Instead of telling his son to buck up and put his nose to the grind stone and get through his deployment and rely on his comrades and the officers above him, his Dad told him to seek out “men of honor who share yor values,” and make their cause his cause.
So this loony kid determines that he would seek out the enemy.
And that is just what he did.
But then he found out the true nature of the enemy and tried to escape...but they caught him and kept him in very tough conditions.
Apparently ultimately after a couple of years of that, he went over to the point that they trusted him to assist them around their camp.
This is why covert operatives who saw it, advised the SpecOps people to not go in after him. It is my understanding that SpecOps refused to risk American lives on such an individual.
Ultimately...Obama rides to the rescue and offers the dream deal for the Taliban to let him go...and they do.
Now we have this deserter, who is going to be court martialed. And some of the Army JAGs are trying to paint a picture that might lead to a simple dishonorable discharge IMHO, in an effort to help preserve Obama’s legacy.
It seems that it’s always all about Obama.
But American soldiers died during operations that were used to help look for this guy after his desertion.
The soldiers who served with Bergdahl have spoken out and made clear what type of soldier he was.
Bergdahl himself has admitted online to his desertion and tried to claim it was some sort of self sacrifice to bring attention to his concerns.
But Bergdahl had several other avenues to raise his concerns...and he did not.
No, IMHO, Begdahl at the very least should spend the next 20 years in Leavenworth.
In any war from Korea on back he would be executed...and for very understandable and compelling reasons.
