I’ve seen several reports indicating that his decisions are extra-Constitutional.
As for the Senate’s calendar, it is what the majority says it is, and the Republicans are the majority.
No! Reject him, or lose your gun rights and then every other right shortly afterward.
If Hillary gets elected, you'll be getting a Leftist judge. Thus, my suggestion. Wait until November and confirm/reject based on who wins.
What's your plan if Hillary wins?
Who is this wuss?
I admit I am not thinking that far ahead. My theory is that either Hillary or Sanders would be such an unmitigated disaster that we are finished.
Awww come-on guys, give him a hearing
“Im a conservative. Im a Republican.”
Actually, you can’t be. If what you say is true, you sir, Bob, are a poser.
The most important decision, for generations to come, literally, deciding the direction of the country, which is already on course for destruction, should be left to lame duck Obama? Are you CRAZY?
One thing George W Bush said that I wholeheartedly agree with, was “Either you are with us or you are with the terrorists”.
When it comes to SCOTUS appointments, you are either with us (conservatives) or you are with the terrorists (liberals). There is no middle ground. There is no gray area. Allow lame duck Obama to appoint ANOTHER supreme court justice, or use the constitutional power of the Senate to protect our country from destruction. An EASY choice for a REAL conservative.
I fully agree with you.
“And what if the new Senate is composed of 53 Democrats and 47 Republicans...”
Well, then we can be sure that some Democrats will break with their colleagues and join the Republicans in rejecting the nominee as a matter of principle. SAID NO ONE EVER!!!!
I could barely finish typing that line without falling off my chair.
Yes, Lonsberry calls himself a conservative yet he
fails to address this nominee’s more than dubious
record on Second Amendment issues. Since he fails
to defend Obama’s boy in this area his whole argument goes
in the shitter as far as I am concerned. In fact, he
is more GOPe than anything, at best.
NO ONE is addressing it. No one on FR even seemed aware of it.
Don’t fall for the gambit that we shouldn’t decide on a nominee based on issues. OK, except for this one. It undergirds all our other rights.
First of all the guy will lie.
Then those lies will be repeated endlessly in the media where he will sound so reasonable etc.
So the public will then start pressuring the turtle, Grassley etc.that they “need to do their jobs” because it’s only “fair”.
Then hearings will be held where this guy will continue to lie and be portrayed in the media as a cross between Mother Teresa and MLK.
Do I really have to explain what happens next?
We owe it to our senators to “lead them not into temptation”. They won’t be able to stand against it.
Then obama will have two nominees to confuse the public with and the left will begin braying something along the lines of - at least give us one of ‘our’ nominees. It’s only fay-er.
Bob is completely wrong on this.
We do not want an Obama nominee. Obama has done more to disrespect and destroy this Republic than any President in recent history. And that is saying a lot.
To expect the Republican Congress to go right up to the brink of confirming Obama’s pick, then expect them to be able to pull back from actually doing it, is idiotic, given this Congress’ demonstrated lack of spine.
The only way to fight this is to fight it all the way, right from the start.
Hard to believe that Bob does not see this.
Screw Obama. Let him twist in the wind on this one.
“”and the Republicans are the majority.””
Only on paper - certainly not on their actions. I wouldn’t count on them doing the right thing.
The US Senate is not required to do anything whatsoever with a nominee, nothing. By not talking to him it is a defacto rejection.
When a liberal brings up this issue, I remind them that New Jersey Dems have held a State Supreme Court position vacant for SIX YEARS to prevent a Christie appointment. Six years!
Dear Bob, by announcing the policy of automatically enbargoing any new obama SC appointment, Republicans have disarmed the pResident of the (certain) opportunity of claiming the failure to proceed is race or sex related. That in itself is worth the price of admission.
I went to the link in the post, and while it appears this isn’t “today’s” column, finally found the article in question.
I wanted to see what commenters on his site had to say about this, but conveniently, there are none to be seen, but 49 are currently “under review”.
I make it a practice to avoid writers that don’t accept comments to their articles and I will follow that practice regarding Mr. Lonsberry and his articles in the future.
Lastly, do any of you fellow FReepers ever venture to the original article source to comment on these things, or do you confine your opinions to FR?
