First, a few thoughts on last night's results, followed by a look at Cruz's remarks. Super Tuesday 3.0's big winner was Hillary Clinton. She dominated the delegate count, swept the night, and used her (grating, shouty) victory speech to focus her attention on Republican frontrunner Donald Trump -- the one Republican who's most likely to help solve some of her problems on the Left and among the so-called Obama coalition. She also witnessed the exit of Marco Rubio, who boasted some of the strongest general election fundamentals and head-to-head numbers of anyone in the race. His potential threat has been neutralized, much to the delight of liberals. John Kasich closed strong and carried his home state of Ohio comfortably, denying Trump 66 delegates -- but he literally has no path to the nomination, outside of a contested convention from which he'd be exceedingly unlikely to emerge as the GOP standard bearer. There's an argument that his continued presence in the race might help siphon off Trump votes in certain areas and states moving forward, but it's more likely that he's maxed out his 'Stop Trump' utility at this point. Nevertheless, he vowed to fight on to Cleveland, and is making moves to that effect.
Which brings us to Ted Cruz. The Texas Senator came in third in last night's delegate race, but is the only Republican standing with a serious chance of stopping Trump.

Cruz is an insider after all.
But I knew your true colors would come out
Legitimate... but I’ll advised
If Cruz were up by 1 he would say the people have spoken and I’m the winner...
It’s all politics by individual perspective.
“..Cruz is an insider after all.”
Oh yes, he has always been. In spite of his history of going up against the Washington mob. It is all about winning AT ANY PRICE. Plain and simple.
Trump holds all the cards even WITHOUT all the delegates. The Republicans are just saying all this to try to drum up support. They SHOULD be focused on putting out the message that Bernie was robbed of the primaries.
Make him run third party.
Do these clowns not understand that Trump is a master negotiater? He is not going to sit quietly on the sidelines and get played for a fool.
This guy has become such a d-——ebag.
He’s clearly all in it for himself. You can tell from his greasy, smarmy speeches.
He probably still has all of his high school debate team trophies and ribbions in his office and home.
“witnessed the exit of Marco Rubio, who boasted some of the strongest general election fundamentals and head-to-head numbers of anyone in the race”
Now that is funny right there. Sadly there are those that believe it.
ALL this talk of a contested convention is hogwash.
There is a difference between “contested” and “brokered.”
A race is a contest until someone crosses the finish line. When one candidate collects enough votes to do that, he wins the nomination.
Trump will likely do that before the convention begins. If he doesn’t cross the finish line, then would you expect those still in the race to stop running?
Cruz isn’t referring to an outside candidate swooping in. He’s talking about Trump and himself. Depending on what happens between now and early June, one or the other of them may collect a voting majority of delegates. If they don’t, Rubio and Kasich have bound delegates that they could release.
Leading is not the same as winning.
It’s a complicated game, and everything I’ve just said plays by the rules.
Keep talking Ted. Rick Scott will make a fine VP.
I think the GOP’s constant reference to a brokered/contested convention is part of their usual strategy for overcoming the people.
First they posit some outrageous scenario (i.e. stealing the nomination) and they say unbelievably tyrannical things. This is to desensitize the people to the act, they hear it over and over until they stop reacting.
Then they make it inevitable double-daring the people to do something about it. It’s all gradual enough to avoid torches and pitchforks yet arouse opposition.
When they see the people realize they’re screwed yet again, they make their move. And like Obamacare, the Iran deal, the budget, TPA/TPP, etc. they fulfill their duties.
I saw a report that he would not go along with a contested convention. Which is it?
I agree with you. It is good for selling papers...and getting politicians in front of the camera that otherwise would be unseen.
Cruz: Why Yes, Denying Trump the Nomination at a Contested Convention Would be Legitimate
And that would be the end of the GOP.
