Child rape is legal, protected, and encouraged in the Muslim religion. Mohammed was a pedophile and he was the perfect man. Therefore
No, most of them just didn’t get that breaking the law and being imprisoned for it for one crime is just as bad as being imprisoned for another.
I don’t think that everyone involved in the prison system has a vested interest in brutalizing people. I do see that people get hardened. They don’t care. Within the prison system there are people, both inmates and employees who like power and throwing their weight around. They have their own little kingdoms set up, and it makes them feel superior and in control. I think it is pathetic and destructive. As for social workers and parole officers, a lot of these people go into the field because they truly care about people and want to make the world better. But many get hardhearted as well. It is very discouraging work. And after a while, a lot of them are simply doing it because its a job and it pays. But as for wanting the recidivism rate to be as high as possible, I don’t believe that at all. Most of them would be happy to see a prisoner get their life together after prison, getting a job and leading a productive life.
I don’t know, I can see your way of thinking from low level prison workers much more easily, I guess.
But if you look prisoners strictly as a way to get more resources, why wouldn’t a high recidivism rate be a good thing? More prisons built, more jobs. It’s like the lumber industry planting trees. I mean, does anything happen to the prison systems that have very high recidivism?

Perhaps you are right. However, I don’t think our country is even close to running out of criminals to fill our prisons and provide participants in the prison/court/industrial complex. With the increasing breakdown of families, high out-of-wedlock births resulting in no fathers in the homes, high unemployment rates leading to a lot of idle hands and crime, high alcohol and drug use impacting DUI rates, not to mention the extremely high rates of crime committed by illegal aliens, our nations’ supply of criminals is at an all time high.
Nobody in prison deserves to be physically assaulted. If you ever find yourself incarcerated, should you be brutalised? What kind of people are we?
All those cultural things are exactly right, it’s hard to argue we wouldn’t have more broken lives and prisoners simply because of all that, apart from anything the prison system is doing or not. But I also reckon that doesn’t mean the prison system isn’t then also out to get repeat business, if that means even more prisons and jobs. It’s not like it would be absolutely shocking, looking around at the general state of things.

So true!
Have a blessed day! On days like this I remind myself that as screwed up as the world is, God wins in the end. He has the final word.
