Trump breaks the ice with Congress
Washington Examiner ^ | 3/15/16 | Susan Ferrechio

The icy relationship between Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump and Republican leaders in Congress may be starting to thaw.

Both House Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis., and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., Tuesday discussed having positive phone conversations with Trump after weeks of refusing to even mention the business mogul by name.

In both cases, Trump picked up the phone first.

"Donald Trump called this morning and we had a good conversation," McConnell told reporters Tuesday. "I appreciated his call."

Huh?

So he picked up the phone and called. Good. The office of President isn’t and should not be a dictator. A complete replacement of congress isn’t coming: if he wins, he’s stuck within most of those miserable bastards regardless.

Selling out is now defined as talking to GOP leaders and listening?

Wow, what then was Cruz running to the microphone to charge that Trump bore responsibility for the violence of the totalitarian left?

Your anger is so misplaced.

Trump's supporters have saying their candidate is going to shake up the system.

If he begins making himself comfortable within it you can expect to be reminded of what was said during the campaign.

Intelligent to make amends with anyone he has offended. After all, he will have to deal with them as president. Nobody but the left wingers gains from them being at odds with each other.

And this is proof he's comfortable? Are you suggesting Cruz never talked with either of these people and listened?

So much jumping to silly conclusions.

Meh.

If you actually didn't mean to imply there was a comfort level, your post is meaningless and simply incoherent.

Have a nice evening.

I agree.

Cruz wrote an op-ed with Paul Ryan in favor of fast track trade authority...not easy to do without talking to him.

That move by Cruz, along with what happened, is a perfect rejoinder to the silliness I pointed out.

Trump is clearly already made his preliminary moves to sell out the very people he rabble-roused into putting him very near the nomination. That is his history, that is his motus operandi. His biography shows that it is perhaps more dangerous to be Donald Trump's partner or friend than his enemy.

He is the King of Crony and there is nothing in his biography to suggest the will change his ways. You have already been sold out and you don't even get it. Your faith in Trump's bombast is actually pathetic.

He has already told the New York Times not to worry about any real fight against illegal immigration. He is already cut deals with Democratic leaders, it's time now to cut deals with Republican leaders.

Have a look at this companion thread in which the Trump bots immediately assail Ted Cruz not for making overtures to Republicans but merely for being the object of possible reconciliation initiated by Republicans. The double standard reeks:http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3409716/posts

Ted Cruz did not solicit the support of the Republican establishment in secret telephone calls, he manned up, he walked into the floor of the Senate and publicly on the record called that son of a bitch, Mitch McConnell, a liar to his face. Donald Trump has already sold you out in secret.

Yeah Cruz seemed to agree too. So cut you crap. It’s tiring. You’re losing more and more supporters on FR cuz of your absolute nastiness. Cruz officially lost the entire south. Do you know how pathetic that is? You better get humble now.

Wow, I can't believe the amount of nonsense in that post. Let's just look at this one thing, and disregard the rest, which on balance is amazing hyperbole:

He has already told the New York Times not to worry about any real fight against illegal immigration.

You put on an air of a truth teller, then completely out yourself with that one. There is zero evidence of that, even the NYT admitted there was nothing in the off the record comments that came close to that. Yet you put it out as fact, strangely similar to what the Cruz campaign used as a talking point for a few days.

Frankly, if I were still a Cruz supporter, I would be livid over what he did over the weekend. I would direct my anger towards the fake conservative who turned out to be a weasel, actually including the Bush clan in his campaign, then siding with the totalitarian left.

It's fairly clear from today's voting results that a lot of his supporters are now seeing the light and became ex supporters. At least they seem to understand where to place their anger.
