Tuesday on Fox News Channels Hannity, former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich downplayed any prospect of someone other than either Donald Trump or Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) receiving the Republican nomination.

I agree...but many lose sight of the fact that Cruz & Trump are the only anti-GOPe candidates who were in the race. Selection of a nominee other than Trump or Cruz would be disastrous and lead to a ‘RAT landslide victory & the destruction of the Republic.
After today if it’s mathematically impossible for any other candidate to win besides Trump then Trump needs to come out loud and strong that the ONLY reason that any other candidate is there is that the Republcian party is trying to screw him out of the nomination. Shout it long and loud.
Well, since the "Lyin Ted" was a lie.......Cruz will be proclaimed the next "Honest Abe" by Trump should Cruz join him.
Get with the program..........Carson had a horrible mental problem ....similar to a pedophile. Now Carson's bragging about "serving" in the Trump administration and Trump says he's one great guy. ROFL
MO and IL are open primary. NC and OH semi-open (R and Indy). Long story short. Cruz not expected to win any, just add to his delegate and he probably won’t be adding much.
Kasich might hang around praying for a brokered convention.
Cruz, well, we’ll see his true colors. So far all indications are he’s not a team playe, he’ll play along as long as events benefit him, if those events align him solidly in the GOPe camp, so be it.
In the end, both play GOPe spoilers.
Yep, so pick one. Either way, the GOPe doesn’t like it, but some will go with Trump and some will go with Cruz.
Some are probably thinking, “Better the devil you know than the devil you don’t.”
The Washington Cartel has chosen Kasich over Cruz. Funny how that sucking up didn’t really pan out for him.
That is so idiotic it probably doesn’t deserve a response, but here goes anyway.
If, a year ago, I’d have told you that Ted Cruz will eventually convince the majority of DC GOP power brokers to fall in behind him, you’d have called me crazy. But that’s what’s happened. And Cruz didn’t change a thing; he just stayed true to his principles.
But now, according to you and every rabid Trump supporter (that’s only about 1% of Trump’s supporters, by the way, and maybe far less), Cruz is suddenly the leading light of the GOPe.
As I said; idiotic.
By the way, I’ll bet that well over 80% of Trump voters will easily vote for Cruz, maybe 90-95% of them. Get a grip.
You’re misreading Gingrich. What he said was that if the GOP tries to install a completely different nominee, other than either Trump or Cruz, THEN all they have to do is form an alliance and put a stop to it, which they would very likely do.
But if the GOP tries to install Cruz as the nominee, as is likely to happen, you won’t see that Trump/Cruz alliance at all. And you’ll quite possibly see Cruz as the nominee unless Trump has a majority going into the convention.
“I think a Trump/Cruz ticket is still possible.”
At one time I sure thought that way. However watching Cruz over the last few months have sure changed my thoughts about him and for the worst.
The media that never says there isnt a snow balls chance in hell of those two winning anything even if they do win their own states.

Again, not sure what you are watching. Just this morning, Kasich, even winning Ohio, we were told would have to win 118% of the delegates to win the election outright.
That means no chance.
Well, since the “Lyin Ted” was a lie.......Cruz will be proclaimed the next “Honest Abe” by Trump should Cruz join him.
Get with the program..........Carson had a horrible mental problem ....similar to a pedophile. Now Carson’s bragging about “serving” in the Trump administration and Trump says he’s one great guy. ROFL
Yep, it’s politics, all right.
It’s not called the “silly season” for nothing.
“Cruz recently said the only way he would not support Trump, if Trump is the winner of the nomination, would be if Trump shot down a person on a public street.”
Cruz was mocking Trump when he said that. He was referencing a previous quote from Trump that was splashed all over the media with the purpose to make him look violent and crazy.
The problem with your scenario is too many Trump supporters would bolt the party and not vote for Cruz.
Curz would secure the nomination, but have an almost zero chance of winning the presidency. A cold prize indeed.
I'm backing the Mongoose. Cruz is a snake.
That’s what I just said.
Either I’m writing extremely poorly, or you aren’t understanding me correctly. I’m not the best writer in the world.
I’m saying that Kasich doesn’t have a snow ball’s chance in hell even if he wins his own state. Is that different than what you think?
Nah, I think we’re saying the same thing, Kasich is in the race to do 1 thing now.
Deny Trump 1237. Rubio as well.
I 100% agree with that.
After watching him on Hannity last night, I perceive he’s been offered a reward if he accomplishes that.
He thinks he’ll be the brokered POTUS.
The best he’ll get is a brokered VEEP.
I want to deny him anything.
That’s why Trump/Cruz need to unite after California when it becomes clear who the winner is.
“but how does one undo Lyin Ted?”
Easy! Trump will say he was calling him “Lion Ted” because he was such a ferocious competitor!
