EXETER, N.H. - Wise-cracking funnyman Al Franken yesterday body-slammed a demonstrator to the ground after the man tried to shout down Gov. Howard Dean.
The tussle left Franken's trademark thick-rim glasses broken, but he said he was not injured.
Franken - who seemed in a state of shock and out of breath after the incident - was helped back to his feet by several people who watched the tussle. Police arrived soon after.
"I got down low and took his legs out," said Franken afterwards.
Franken said he's not backing Dean but merely wanted to protect the right of people to speak freely. "I would have done it if he was a Dean supporter at a Kerry rally," he said.

Whether or not enforcing one standard of behavior is correct or not and whether some FReepers believe in that standard and other FReepers do not is not the point.
The point is that Al Franken, a nationally known Democrat politician, was celebrated by the ruling elites for bodily attacking a heckler that had not physically threatened or attacked anyone. While those same ruling-elites condemn Trump for advocating physical responses to the threats and physical attacks of hecklers - while never bodily attacking anyone himself.
Here's an example where CNN's article in 2004 even concealed Franken's own admission of charging and knocking down the heckler and only said:
"Franken... helped carry out one of the disrupters. In the process, Franken's glasses were knocked off his face and broke in two."Also notice that CNN's headline was the disruption of the heckler(s) and not the actual physical attack by Franken.

There was no real downside.
And in addition to being a lying cheater, he is incredibly ugly.

I tried to look up other articles that might have a picture, and that Freeper thread came up in the search. So I started reading it, hoping I'd read people sticking up for Franken. It was just interesting as hell that it went the other way. Don't you think so?

You're right - it says that the media and "ruling elites" have an unfair and biased double standard. Unfortunately, the two threads on FR suggest the exact same about us.
If you don't want to see the irony, fine. But it's obvious. I wish it wasn't there, and I wish that 2004 thread had read differently. But...that just ain't the case.

2) Next, you would have to back up your charges by making the case that the actions of Trump today and Frankel in 2004 are comparable. Since Frankel bodily attacked a heckler that had not physically threatened or attacked anyone and Trump only advocated physical responses to the threats & physical attacks of hecklers - while never bodily attacking anyone himself - you will only fail on that count.
3) Even if the above facts were not the facts (supposing you did not fail on point 1 & 2) you would still fail to discredit the fundamental point of the thread: That Trump is a victim of a ruling-elite double-standard that gave Frankel a complete pass on his actions in 2004 and widely and loudly condemned Trump for his actions today. And that is true whatever a FReeper believes the correct standard for handling hecklers and violent/threatening protesters at campaign rallies should be - and whatever your opinion of Trump is.
You were all in with the Birthers to make sure America got a square deal, right? No "street" blowoff of the 70+% white majority by Mr. Street-Smart Blackman hisseff, the Magic Negro? Or would insisting that he produce his papers have been too small-minded and easy for Barky's slugs to portray as <gasp!> raciss, so that Good Government Bush-Backers (like Mild Michael Medved, who actually got nasty about it) would all know to stay away from questioning Mr. Traitormole's credentials, right?
