A history of support for free-trade deals by Ted Cruz and his wife, Heidi, is dogging the senators campaign in the important winner-take-all Ohio GOP presidential primary, especially since the Cleveland Plain Dealer has just reported that the state lost 112,500 jobs last year because of the U.S. trade deficit with countries in the Trans-Pacific Partnership agreement.
A CNN poll on Wednesday showed Donald Trump leading in Ohio, with 41 percent, over John Kasich, at 35 percent. Cruz was in third, with 15 percent.
The Cruz campaign on Thursday told WND that the senator supported Congress giving President Obama Trade Promotion Authority, TPA, generally known as Fast Track. It would allow the White House to push the Trans-Pacific Partnership, TPP, through Congress in an up or down vote with limited debate and no amendments.
But the campaign said Cruz always has opposed the TPP and supports TPA only because he favors free trade generally.
However, on April 22, 2015, Cruz co-authored with Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wisc, then chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, an op-ed in the Wall Street Journal that endorsed TPP and its sister Trans-Atlantic Partnership.

This article is Bullcrap. Cruz OPPOSES TPP, and he is running last in Ohio.
Kasich is a vocal supporter of TPP (even if he isn’t sure what to call it) and he’s running first.
Whatever it is that is not gaining votes for Cruz, it isn’t his position on TPP.
Trade promotion authority has existed for decades before TPP was a twinkle in anyone’s eye. Stop lying on behalf of your master.
You noticed that too?
And isn’t he favoring a flat tax AND a value added tax?
Ted’s dad fought on the Castro side before he fled Cuba. Look it up.
Thank you. This one says it all about Cruz’s duplicity and subterfuge on TPP and trade in general. This has been posted twice (and I’m glad because perhaps fewer people will overlook it) and I’d like to see the total hit count, especially from Cruzers. They refuse to look at the reality of Cruz’s globalism. They simply refuse to read what is put before them that shows their fantasies about what Cruz SAYS he is are total lies! Cruz is a STEALTH candidate, TALKING one way but his career and his wife’s career says the total opposite of the words he uses to try to get elected.
Interesting post. And it traces back to when I left the Tedtanic. You see Teddy lost me with his TPA flim-flam routine. Before that I was a supporter and contributor. But being for TPA before he was against it as well as his spin was a very clear indication of the real Teddy.
He’s losing because he’s an opportunist and comes off as such.
That’s the same flimflammery that Teddy Milhous has been spewing ever since the cloture vote when the real Teddy came to the fore.
There is no reason for TPA if it isn’t followed with a trade sellout. Its used to grease the skids for crappy globalist deals that wouldn’t have a prayer if they were actually debated in full.
Is there some other way the US should negotiate trade deals, or should we not have any trade deals? If we have trade deals, how should we ratify them in the Senate in a reasonable amount of time without TPP? Remember, every time our Senate changes something in the deal, everyone at the table gets a chance at changing the deal. Any trade deal proposed after TPP can get a full airing in the Senate before voting, but the deal cannot be amended.
I know. Back when Castro wasn’t a Commie. His father knows a lot about commie betrayal. Just like the dim’s in this country.
