Hispanic Republicans Like Hillary Clinton And Bernie Sanders Better By Philip Bump March 12
The Washington Post and Univision News asked Hispanic voters which 2016 presidential candidates they prefer, which issues matter to them and whether they think the country is on the right track. Here's how they responded. (Sarah Parnass/The Washington Post)
Donald Trump has regularly insisted that, despite his rhetoric about illegal immigrants, he would win the support of Hispanic voters in a general election. This argument was bolstered by the results of the voting in Nevada, where he won nearly half the Latino vote, according to entrance polls reported by CNN. Sure, he lost Hispanics in Texas, but winning any state seems unexpected.
Still, those entrance polls are a subset of a subset of the vote. As new data from Gallup shows, Donald Trump is very unpopular with Hispanics overall -- far less popular than any of the remaining presidential candidates.
We'll start by noting that Donald Trump is deeply unpopular with lots of people -- mostly everyone except a bit under half of the Republican Party. As Dartmouth's Brendan Nyhan noted on Twitter on Thursday, he's the least popular presidential candidate at this stage of an election in decades.

The White vote, with a lot of help with the Black vote, will give Trump the Presidency....unless Diebold changes the votes again.
The Washington post and by times are outdoing themselves in dredging up anti- Republican articles and hit pieces this year. Plus salon and huff post which have been running pro-Bernie propaganda. They must really Really be afraid of Hillary’s Losing - and losing big-time
Besides, the Washington Compost, is full of Bull$hit and nobody reads it.
Not very bright, are they?
Sadly, if the nominee (whoever it is) loses significantly the Hispanic and woman vote, Hillary wins.
Most Hispanics just want free $hit and the cultures they come from are largely antithetical to notions of limited govt.
White Democrats like Trump better than Clinton or Sanders.
“Hispanic Republicans Like Hillary Clinton And Bernie Sanders Better Than Donald Trump”
..all three of them?
Then they should ‘become’ Democrats (quotes because that’s what they already are), that’s fine. This is not a popularity contest.
But should we not be concerned by the real data instead of simply dismissing any news item than is negative of Trump or with cheap insults?
Isn’t this data below very disturbing in what is supposed to be a pivotal election?
“Gallup’s data suggests that this holds true for Hispanics as well. Among the Hispanics surveyed by Gallup, Trump is viewed favorably by 12 percent and unfavorably by 77 percent, for a net favorability of negative-65. That’s 61 points worse than the second-worst-viewed candidate, Ted Cruz.”
Guess they aren’t really repukelicans then.
No such thing as a hispanic republican, only various shades of mexican socialism.
Actually they are perfect Republicans.
From the WAPO article:
“Trump is winning right now in part because he’s running against three other people. In the most recent Washington Post-ABC News poll, he trails Ted Cruz in a one-on-one race.”
“Sadly, if the nominee (whoever it is) loses significantly the Hispanic and woman vote, Hillary wins.”
Too bad Jeb quit. He would have won a majority of the Hispanic vote and lead the RNC to a glorious victory. How could any Latino resist his low energy charm?
They are Hispanics first and foremost. They could care less about the country. I would say expel them from the GOP but they are probably GOPe.
There are lots of Hispanic Republicans on Free Republic. Don’t be a jerk.
