Hours after Donald Trump canceled a Friday night rally in Chicago, citing safety concerns as hundreds of vocal protestors filled the crowd, he appeared before a crowd in Dayton, Ohio, to condemn the "planned attack" in Illinois, Reuters reports – even as a man at the Dayton event allegedly moved toward the stage, sending Secret Service agents to surround Trump.

Video from the rally captured the moment agents suddenly appeared next to Trump when a man "attempted to breach the secure buffer and was removed rapidly and professionally," a campaign spokeswoman told NBC News.

Identified as Thomas Dimassimo, he was charged with disorderly conduct and inducing panic, Dayton Airport Police Chief Mike Etter told NBC News. Dayton Airport Police did not immediately respond to PEOPLE's request for a comment.

Trump himself seemed jarred by the moment, though he bounced back afterward, telling the crowd, according to the Dayton Daily News, "Is anything more fun than a Donald Trump rally?"

This Tommy DiMassimo character seems to be a former child actor (He's on IMDb, apparently, under the same name) and participates in community playhouse productions with himself and several other actors who have made a spectacle of themselves at recent anti-Confederate flag rallies.

Personally, I think he's a paid actor doing this schtick too.

Seems simplistic. I get that in a big picture sense, Obama's election energized a lot of people to take an interest in racial politics, but they're out there, they're organized, and they're not waiting for instructions or directions from above.

Ditto with the Trump thing. You can find a connection between Obama talking about Trump and what's happening, but it was bound to happen sooner or later, given all the anti-Trump feeling.

Doesn't anybody remember that it all began with "Black Lives Matter" protesters at a Bernie Sanders rally when Sanders let the protesters take over his stage and microphone? Trump said that was a lack of leadership and he would never let protesters take over his microphone.

That was taken as a challenge by the protesters to ramp up their agression at Trump rallies.

But it was originally a weakness of Sanders that started it all. Now they find it convenient to blame Trump for it.

Seeing how Trump's primary opponents are jumping on the bandwagon that the agitators started, it is now becoming a sport to the Left to disrupt Trump rallies, knowing that Cruz and the others will be all over it afterwards.

If Cruz instead denounced that behavior, he might contribute to stopping it instead of encouraging more of it by his reactions.

I was there and saw it. One minute he was talking and the next minute the SS was all around him. I never got a look at the Dumassio guy though. There was a minor scuffle right beside us and multiple trouble makers that got the “get him the hell out of here treatment”. There was a gal wearing Bernie apparel right behind me who didn’t cause any problems. Fun time.
