THE MORNING PLUM:
At last nights debate, Donald Trump lorded it over his rivals with supreme confidence. Gone was narcissistic, rambling, insult-spraying Trump. In his place stood calm, unifying, presidential Trump. The Donald noted with satisfaction that his foes were mostly laying off of him. I cant believe how civil its been up here, he said, by which he really meant, all you losers have surrendered to me, and Im loving every minute of it. And Trump may be right: its possible that by next week, he will be on a path to winning the nomination outright.
But if there is anything last nights debate really revealed, its that Trump may not have any idea what is about to hit him soon enough. If Trump does become the nominee, he will run into a buzz saw of reality otherwise known as the general election, and he may not know how badly mangled hell get.
Last nights debate is being widely described as a shift in tone: rather than lob schoolyard insults at each other, the GOP candidates had a real policy debate. And thats true. But in the process, the debate really revealed the limitations to the scrutiny Trump has faced on policy in the context of the GOP primaries and that foreshadows, by contrast, just how brutal the scrutiny of Trump on policy will be in the general election, once those limitations are removed.
Consider a few of the main attacks that Trump had to endure last night. When Trump vaguely promised to keep entitlements solvent and to cut waste, fraud and abuse, Marco Rubio made a spirited case against Trumps budgetary hocus pocus, repeatedly saying the numbers dont add up.

So you approve of the riots in Chicago shutting down free speech?
We need to start a thread for what nicknames Trump should call Hillary.
Cankles is good, but might offend women...
I’m thinking Little Napoleon Dike.
They think he is not amassing all the info his money can buy on both those other two fools.
No, I favor free speech.
100% agree, skeeter.
He is “Dead Man Walking” in the general election right now, but if he can convince people the real Donald Trump is compassionate, knowledgeable, etc, he has a chance to become viable before November.
So, wanna bet?
Ah, the old I'm rubber, you're glue defense, I remember that......when I was 5.
Is that you on the pole or on in the garages with baseball bats and hammers?
Allow me to help. Cruz co-authored a WSJ article with Paul Ryan advocating TPA/Fast Track and more power to Obama.
Ted Cruz joins the establishment
He then voted for cloture on TPA and against an amendment to block China.
S.Amdt. 1251 (Brown) to H.R. 1314: To require the approval of Congress before additional countries may join the Trans-Pacific Partnership ... S.Amdt. 1251 (Brown) to H.R. 1314: To require the approval of Congress before additional countries may join the Trans-Pacific Partnership
He changed his mind on the last vote because Rubio cast the 60th vote.
What's important to know here is that Cruz was all in to grease the skids for TPP/Obamatrade which is as bad for the country as Obamacare. He never should have written that article to give Obama more power because he was sent to Washington to stop Obama. And he should never have helped setup for Obamatrade.
Sounds very familiar, he's saying almost the exact same things that the fetid son-of-a-traitor Mark Halperin of The Daily Beast (sub of WaPo) boasted about during the 2012 Republican convention, that his press buddies were going to do to Mitt Romney, his message, and supporting statements like Clint Eastwood's great "Empty Chair" Speech at the convention, that Halperin bragged few people if any would ever see, in full and unspun.
He was basically bragging that he and his 'Ratpals would make anybody look bad to the public, and induce them to reject him.
Which is used on cutlery as a hardening agent in treating surfaces for better sharpening and edge-holding.
There's a price to pay for the hardening: it also makes the steel brittle and prone to cracking. In turbine blades, vanadium (from poorly-refined crude oil) promotes blade cracking and failure, the result being a blown-up turbine.
Trump’s buzzsaw just started up last night. It will continue for the rest of the primary and up to the convention. If he doesn’t have 1237 delegates, he is toast.
“...Trump has a very limited vocabulary...”
...and our Progressive President’s expansive vocabulary is encased in a teleprompter along with his having memorized
“George Bush”.
IMHO
And just HOW will this be different from what has tried to run into him already?
By WHOM?
Cackles?
Granpa?
Sorry; but they've painted themselves.
He can be the art critic.
bingo!
So it is said that if you know your enemies and know yourself, you can win a hundred battles without a single loss.
