She’s right. Trump holds virtually no GOP positions and, frankly, they should have stopped him from running as a GOP candidate when they had a chance. But the fact that they didn’t and couldn’t shows the whole problem with the GOP: they don’t make people stick to positions.
The GOP in theory is quite good, but virtually none of the elected legislators or anybody else adheres to the program.
Mostly they err on the side of being too accomodating to soft liberal positions. But the GOP is also completely lost when confronting somebody like Trump, who is essentially not a conservative but a libertarian (we don’t have a nihilist party yet, otherwise he’d be that).
So it all goes back to weakness at the core of the party.
