The good news - 16,000 new IRS agents will make sure all penalties will be collected by force if required.

“Health reform” has cost my family a fortune. I want to sue! Even before Obamacare was “official” the insurance companies felt free to raise our rates at extremely inflated percentages every year for years leading up to it — 56%, 32%, 40%, etc. And we have received NOTHING in return except the same old same old crap. Now we are forced to buy benefits we don’t even use. Don’t tell me how the insurers have lost out!!!

The insurers are collecting payments from you to cover the medical bills of other customers.

For every insured person (we'll call this A) who is covered for triple bypass surgery, hip replacement or cancer treatments, the insurance carrier needs to have some number (we'll call it X) of other insured customers who don't have any medical expenses at all.

Insurance carriers are facing a major financial dilemma because the ratio of healthy people to sick people (X/A) is declining rapidly.

P.S. -- This is one big reason why every government agency and industry in the U.S. is hell-bent on allowing free and open immigration. They need to get that "X" number higher even if it means importing these people from Third World dumps all over the planet.

That seems to be an unreasonable assumption (that immigrants would have a lower chance of having health problems than native citizens).

Those who did not sign up for Obamacare must pay a penalty of $383.

6 out of 10 working poor who signed up for Obamacare must pay a penalty of $579 (per AP and H&R Block).

So Obamacare is a tax on the healthy working poor who must subsidize the obese, cigarette smoking, alcoholic and drug addicted unhealthy poor?

$383 and $579 on average. The harder the working poor family worked, the more they are penalized above the $579.

Two years ago I had several doctor's visits scheduled for the week. Cardiologist, eye doctor (new reading glasses) and the yearly oncology checkup (cancer survivor).

This was in Cali, Colombia (keep that in mind)...the services were professional, courteous and thorough. Not being a Colombian citizen I was required to pay the cash going rate. The week's total for everything was equivalent $651 US. The difference??????

Colombia has no welfare class, gimmiedats, freeloaders and lawyers who sue everyone at the drop of a hat. Everybody works - sink or swim.

I heard someone claim success that 29% without insurance had insurance now. Is that not a failure with 71% not insured, where, the law requires everyone be insured.

Obamacare is not perfect, but at least those of us who liked our health care plan were able to keep our health care plan.

Obamacare is not perfect, but at least those of us who liked our doctors were able to keep our doctors.

Obamacare is not perfect, but at least the average family of four has saved $2500 a year on Obamacare, solving our family financial problems.

Obamacare is not perfect, but at least they are not wasting our tax dollars by covering illegals with Obamacare (Obama claimed it wouldn’t happen, and Congressman Joe Wilson famously said “you lie!”). http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2009/sep/09/joe-wilson/joe-wilson-south-carolina-said-obama-lied-he-didnt/ http://www.politico.com/story/2015/07/california-may-let-undocumented-immigrants-buy-obamacare-120249

Obamacare is not perfect, but at least nuns with the “Little Sisters of the Poor” now have free abortion and birth control pills, solving a major national problem.

I’m not going to advocate that the conclusion is correct, as I don’t expect everything balances out - but there are some counter-intuitive trends.

For example, studies in Canada showed that smokers saved the Healthcare system quite a bit of money - by dying relatively soon after retirement.

It’s plausible that immigrants could be much less healthy, but more cheaply treatable, at least early on, before they join the elderly population...which is sort of two things.

If you took two people of the same age -- an American and an immigrant -- I'd concede that the immigrant would have higher health risks (on average).

But you have to remember that the immigrants are generally much younger than the Americans they are replacing.

You would have a similar situation here in the U.S. if everyone paid cash for their medical care. The presence of a third-party payment system completely distorts the normal pricing relationships -- based on supply and demand -- in any business transaction.

If you need any evidence of this, just consider this:

Despite the ridiculous rates of escalation in health care costs over the years, there are some medical procedures that have gotten considerably cheaper over time. Two perfect examples of this are laser eye surgery and cosmetic plastic surgery.

These two procedures have one thing in common: They aren't covered by most health insurance plans. As a result, doctors who perform them must price their services according to the capability of their customer base to pay for these services directly.
