Cruz turns down FEC on campaign-loan disclosure

Ted Cruz has rebuffed a request by Federal Election Commission to disclose more information about some $1 million in loans he received from two major Wall Street banks during his 2012 Senate campaign.

In a letter to the FEC this week, the treasurer of Cruz’s 2012 campaign turned down a request by agency auditors that it fill out a public form spelling out “the complete terms” of two personal loans Cruz received from Goldman Sachs and Citibank– the proceeds of which, he has since acknowledged, he used to finance his upstart race for the Senate.

“They’re stalling on what they should have disclosed four years ago,” charged Craig MacDonald, executive director of Texans for Public Justice, a liberal advocacy group that has filed one of two complaints with the FEC over the loan issue. “This is a critical point in the presidential campaign and they don’t want any more new information about it coming out now.”

The Cruz campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment. But in his March 8 letter to the FEC, Bradley Knippa, the treasurer of Cruz’ 2012 campaign, offered this explanation for not responding to the request from FEC auditors: It is already cooperating with another arm of the agency, its enforcement division, which is conducting a separate review of the loans in response to the complaints filed by MacDonald and another advocacy group. And those reviews are conducted under strict confidentiality rules that, Knippa argued, forbid making any more information public.

“I wondered why he dropped the demands for Trump’s tax returns. This story explains everything.”

Ted never released his returns as HE PROMISED. A day late, he provided a ‘SUMMARY’, which showed NOTHING.

In Texas, Cruz/s Senate election fairy tale has become legendary......portraying himself to trusting Texans as a scrappy populist putting everything on the line to overcome a wealthy establishment opponent.

He was whining in the media, telling trusting Texans that he, and his faithful little wife (a $700,000 globalist lawyer employed by G/S), were forced to liquidate their entire family savings (of slightly more than $1 million) to fuel a come-from-behind win in the Republican primary.

NOW TEXANS LEARN Cruz did not liquidate family assets.....he got his hands on over a million dollars from his hefty margin accounts at G/S and Citibank......and did not disclose this on FEC reports (to keep it a secret from Texans).

Cruz did not disclose loans on FEC reports (required by law) b/c Texans would have discovered he was not the aw-shucks rube he pretended to be. He continued the rube act in order to milk votes from Texans.

At the same time, he also did not disclose he was a Canadian citizen......the Harvard-educated lawyer w/ two Ivy League degrees said he didn/t know.

When the Dallas Morning News published Cruz/s Canadian birth certificate, Cruz put Texans through the charade of renouncing his Canadian citizenship.....even though Canada did not recognize dual citizenship at the time of his birth.

Well dearie, you are not the final say in what the law says, regardless of how smart you think you are.

No bearing on his current race. People in finance know exactly what a loan against a margin account is. It is people who think they know what a margin account is, who think this is somehow wrong. The key element to this... is what are the terms of the margin loan... what interest rate extended and length of payback term. IF this is a “special deal” by Goldman, then they will be coming after Goldman as well— for what that is worth, which is nothing, since Goldman has their fingers in every pie.... and might add, very much into Mr. Trump’s real estate pie. The notion that trump somehow is not “beholden” to anyone is ludicrous. That would speak of an individual who is running a pure, cash in cash out business in billion dollar real estate— it’s just not true.
Don’t believe the rhetoric— they are all beholden to the banks, and especially to Golden Slacks, a truly evil outfit. Romney, fwiw, was a consultant with Bain Consulting in baaahston— another totally evil corporate laundry machine— which fits romney to a T. Deo Vindice.

Well Cruz will be out of the race and back in his senate seat before this FEC investigation is over but based on Teddy’s track record I will not be surprised to find out he is in violation.

In all truth, compared to the utter contempt of the obamaumao and hitlery people of the FEC, with their accepting donation by credit card from foreign organized boiler rooms— with foreign money pouring in and the FEC doing nothing, this is “facade” effort by the lib media (with the collusion, as always of people in other campaigns- and don’t forget the clintoons doing this)over way less money than these lib machines.
No one, ever has “not been beholden”. The elite establishment are the ones who are “holding the paper” and steering the media. They are the ones in bed with the House of Saud, and at the same time John Kerry and Iran. This is their game. People generally do not get this.
Like Huey Long, whom FDR deeply feared could beat him, and who was eventually assassinated by his own bodyguards— and FDR’s people blamed..a jew. And it was FDR’s inside men who set up the media meme. Huey Long was a classic demagogue, saying what the working people wanted to hear— and ripping them off. The elite wasn’t going to have that— it would upset the country club.
