Cruz turns down FEC on campaign-loan disclosure
Yahoo News ^ | March 10th, 2016 | Michael Isikoff

Ted Cruz has rebuffed a request by Federal Election Commission to disclose more information about some $1 million in loans he received from two major Wall Street banks during his 2012 Senate campaign.

In a letter to the FEC this week, the treasurer of Cruz’s 2012 campaign turned down a request by agency auditors that it fill out a public form spelling out “the complete terms” of two personal loans Cruz received from Goldman Sachs and Citibank– the proceeds of which, he has since acknowledged, he used to finance his upstart race for the Senate.

“They’re stalling on what they should have disclosed four years ago,” charged Craig MacDonald, executive director of Texans for Public Justice, a liberal advocacy group that has filed one of two complaints with the FEC over the loan issue. “This is a critical point in the presidential campaign and they don’t want any more new information about it coming out now.”

The Cruz campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment. But in his March 8 letter to the FEC, Bradley Knippa, the treasurer of Cruz’ 2012 campaign, offered this explanation for not responding to the request from FEC auditors: It is already cooperating with another arm of the agency, its enforcement division, which is conducting a separate review of the loans in response to the complaints filed by MacDonald and another advocacy group. And those reviews are conducted under strict confidentiality rules that, Knippa argued, forbid making any more information public.

Kind of hard for HRC to do that when she still has not explained her Goldman Sachs speaking fees.

If you dig into this story you’ll find there’s nothing there

It’s just used as a hit piece against Cruz

Could be. All of the FEC members were appointed by either Obama or GWB, and the timing is certainly suspicious. Why did they wait until now to want information about loans from a 2012 campaign? Doesn't look much different than what the IRS did to the Tea Party groups.

Texans didn’t like how Cruz said he busted the piggy bank to fund his come from behind win in the Senate race to only find out later about these loans.

The "busted the piggy bank" story stunk to high Heaven from the get go. Who has a million dollars laying around in a piggy bank anyway?? (metaphporically speaking of course)

The last time some junior Senator who was a Harvard lawyer with a questionable citizenship talked like that we got Obama. Different party, same attitude.

You need to check further into this as I have. The FEC is concerned about whether the loans are properly collateralized. That is what the focus is on besides the fact that they were not properly disclosed.

Thank you for all that insight. As I did NOT enroll in barrycare, am I to understand that there is no legal way for the IRS to collect a ‘fine’ imposed on me? I lost track of this monster years ago - I’m not sure if you know of C. Steven Tucker, he is one of the most educated and loudest voices against the hc disaster. Anyway, I’ve spoken to him over the years and I don’t even qualify for anything other than medicaid, which I refuse to become a member of.

Thanks again

Take 30 min to listen and then go do the research... this is no conspiracy or tax scheme, it is simply the truth as to how to truthfully & properly apply the ‘income’ tax to your earnings so to keep your earnings in your bank account where they belong. https://youtu.be/hgzzYl-eeUI

Also, there is a group in your state that would love to help you. They will not do the work for your, but they will be a very strong support system to you in your research so to apply the tax code properly. http://www.losthorizons.com/tax/StateGroups.htm

He received $2 million and didn’t pay taxes on it.
It was NOT used for his Senate campaign.
If he puts it to paper, he is committing fraud.
So, he is doing what all weasely lawyers in government do - not signing it or filling it out.

There is a reason government hires political animals - they are uneducated and ignorant, easily star-struck, and not smart enough to identify fraud. Very flexible morals.

Honey, I’m not a lawyer, but I interpret it and understand it all day long.
It’s not that sophisticated or magical, regardless of what the law schools tell you.
