The US-led coalition carried out the first air strikes on Islamic State (ISIS) chemical weapons sites, the Pentagon said Thursday, acting on crucial information from a captured senior insurgent.
The successful multiple bombings came as a result of intelligence from Sulayman Dawud al-Bakkar, also known as Abu Dawud, Pentagon Press Secretary Peter Cook said, confirming the name of the ISIS group operative said to be a chemical weapons expert for the terrorists.
His capture by US special forces in February - Dawud was transferred Thursday into Iraqi custody after interrogation - appears to be a major boon in the fight against the ISIS group in Iraq and Syria, and Cook said it had yielded almost immediate results.
Cook described Dawud as "ISIL's emir of chemical and traditional weapons manufacturing," using an alternate acronym for the jihadist group.
"His capture removed a key ISIL leader from the battlefield, and provided the coalition with important information about ISIL's chemical weapons capabilities," Cook said.
"Through Dawud, the coalition learned details about ISIL's chemical weapon facilities and production, as well as the people involved."
"The information has resulted in multiple coalition airstrikes that have disrupted and degraded ISIL's ability to produce chemical weapons and will continue to inform our operations in the future."

Thought there were none. Ask any lib.
The EPA allows us to do this?
OMG the chemicals released!!!!
Gaia will be harmed forever....
Before or after the Russians?
With the Russians working on the Syrian side as well, maybe ISIS won't be able to make millions of dollars a day to support their "Islamic State operation."
I guess they just sat down and had coffee and he gave up the information????????????
Can’t vouch for the validity of the site, but it implicates Turkey in supplying poison gas to ISIS and some of the rebel groups:https://www.almasdarnews.com/article/syrian-kurds-accuse-turkey-aiding-sarin-gas-delivery-rebels-fresh-chemical-attacks/
But it was McDonald’s coffee! So it was too hot by half, and they wouldn’t add cream to it to cool it down, so he burned his lips and throat, and it tasted harsh.
Dono the details, but, Turkey is surely up to its Islamic eyeballs in this crap.
And with each bomb and missile there are fewer ISIS fighters and lets hope that they died a fiery death. Ya know, the same group that killed or maimed hundreds of innocent civilians in France just a couple of months ago, is kidnaping young girls and forcing them to be sex slaves, etc. etc.
And, I can't understand why they are calling Trump a bigot.
But did they water board him to get the material? /s
“I guess they just sat down and had coffee and he gave up the information????????????”
My thought too. I’ve always wondered— how can they trust information given by terrorists (unless forced out by torture)? Maybe someone will chime in and let us know.
It's the mis-definition of torture that has done it. Water boarding is not fatal, just scary. Ask anyone who has had escape and evasion training.
He has a problem with sex slaves, terrorism, beheading videos, and other time-honored aspects of Islamic culture. Of course he’s a bigot. Who else would want to deny everyone everywhere in the world their G-d-given right to make Americans yearn to breath free and cause America’s shores to teem.
They should use “something” to get info from terrorists. Guess I thought they were not allowed to do water boarding, etc., anymore. As I said, though, would be hard to trust any info without using it.
I think it’s still illegal. I apologize, as I used your post to springboard an opinion. I agree with your stand.
Because they live in their ivory towers and look down the little people and they know that they are “better than the rest of us.”
And why are the so bold and generous and compassionate? Because it isn’t their family that will likely be hurt by these terrorists.
But Democrats and Liberals tend to be that way — with other people’s money and other peoples security and safety.
