Ted Cruz Says Donald Trump's Voters Have "relatively low information" And Are "not that engaged"
CBN News ^ | March 10, 2016 | David Brody

Posted on 03/10/2016 6:23:01 AM PST by VitacoreVision

GOP presidential candidate Ted Cruz tells The Brody File that the reason Donald Trump is performing well in the GOP race for president is because his voters are uninformed and not engaged in the process. “Donald does well with voters who have relatively low information, who are not that engaged and who are angry and they see him as an angry voice. Where we are beating him is when voters’ get more engaged and they get more informed.” Hunch: I’m thinking Trump and his “Silent Majority” may push back on this just a bit don’t you think? Lots to unpack here but for now, here’s the clip.

Our interview was done Wednesday afternoon in Miami.

Cruz has, as I once told my exwife, the diplomacy of Mohamar Khadafi.

Drudge has just picked this up. Adios, Cruz.

Yup, he really shot himself in the foot. It's funny to see all of the Cruzbots rushing to his defence on this thread. They have become unhinged.

When do we get to see how smart Cruz is? I have been waiting to see that for 6 months and so far Cruz is the idiot standing in the corner of the room while everyone else in the room avoids him.

I think we now should consider that Cruz is mentally ill, a psychopathic liar with delusions of his superiority.

What next will Ted be selling, that he is a god.....Jesus returned to save us? Cruz sounds like a lost man in a straight jacket in a lock up ward for the insane.

Hey Ted, I used to support you enthusiastically. I gave to your Senate campaign even though I live in another state; and, I guess I’ll still vote for you if you are the nominee.

That said, you have become just another “severe conservative” of late. How Romney-esque, your words... displaying your “true colors” as just another elitist enabler “front man;” plotting w/the Bush financiers. Sad and very disillusioning ...I thought better of you once.

Any chance of getting a link for that Reagan quote? I’ll probably want to reuse it.

There is a genuine dispute of material legal issues about his status at the time of birth and the effect of his foreign citizenship.

The original purpose for NBC was a heightened loyalty to America, greater than naturalization, which purpose may have been legally compromised by his foreign citizenship even if he was a NBC at birth. Both his NBC status at birth and his Canadian citizenship are material legal issues which need resolution in a federal court.

It’s 8 months til the election. A few might. Most won’t. Too much noise between here and there.

So, let me get this straight, Trump can go out and say things like ‘How stupid are the people of Iowa?’ and ‘...we won with poorly educated! I love the poorly educated!’, and ‘I could stand in the middle of 5th Avenue and shoot somebody and I wouldn’t lose voters’ and yet he’s given a pass and cheers abound.

But Cruz points out “Donald does well with voters who have relatively low information, who are not that engaged and who are angry and they see him as an angry voice. Where we are beating him is when voters’ get more engaged and they get more informed.”

Did Ted call anyone stupid? No. Did Ted say Trumps voters are bad or dumb people? No. Cruz’ statement is correct. It’s obvious that people who support Trump are either not engaged in all the information that is out there, and/or they are disregarding all the information that is out there. There is a lot of stuff about Trump that should discourage logical, thinking people to reconsider wanting him as president. That’s just truth. Trump is a liberal, after all.

But of course Trump supporters are going to twist it, and get their panties in a wad. Which is ironic, when they claim Trump is this great, all knowing, all powerful hero that is going to magically fix everything and make everyone pay and yet if he were so winning and wonderful, than it should be smooth sailing, and never mind what people say or think about him, right? If he’s got it in the bag, as they keep claiming, who cares what others opinions of him are? Right? He’s got this.

So I have to ask, what do you call a Trump supporter who does research and vets the candidates?

A Cruz supporter.

Actually his post #7 is pretty rational and pretty thoughtful.

It’s pretty stupid for either side to denigrate the supporters of the other side the way some on both sides do. This kind of post makes you look small IMO.

Ted Cruz, you just burned yourself. I can NOT believe you said that. I have a post-graduate degree (which one is none of your business) with a 3.9 GPA, am accomplished at several different things and presently am an expert in my field, a super-fluent bilingual and I voted for Trump (reluctantly, due to his arrogance and self-aggrandizement). He actually talks about issues that should have been a priority YEARS ago. No one else does. Low information? Really?

Wow! That has to rank up there as one of the most stupidest remarks, worse that Romney’s “I will never get the vote of the 48%” or Obama’s “They hand on to their bibles and guns etc.”

So, he insults New Yorkers, now Trump supporters. I thought exit polls show Trump’s supporters include the smartest.

This is going to come home to roost tonight.

"Now, all these low-information and disengaged American voters should look to the splendid example of Canadian voters, as models of engaged and informed voters", twanged Ted in his endearing, whiny Canadian way.

I agree, He only made 1.2 million as a Senator. That salary tells me we are getting screwed. Cruz is one of the most arrogant, two faced, self professed know it all’s I have heard. He repeats his old man’s Cuba BS for political gain. The old man never did any fighting. He was at most a protester. He lied about being with Frank Pais when he was killed. Pais was killed 6 months later in a different place. Claim you were saved and still tell lies.

‘‘How stupid are the people of Iowa?’’

Why weren’t the people and politicians of IA offended by this? When Cruz trashed New York values, there was plenty of pushback. Both ordinary, man on the street New Yorkers and politicians denounced the comment.

Why didn’t we see similar blowback in Iowa?

I was just poking around Senate bills, looking for items associated with Cruz and H1-B. Found S. 247 114th Congress (2015-2016): Expatriate Terrorist Act, which is unrelated to the issuance of any sort of visa. But, it was introduced by Cruz, and its summary page says ...

This bill amends the Immigration and Nationality Act to include among the grounds for loss of U.S. nationality by a native-born or naturalized citizen: ...

The text of the legislation does not use the term "native-born." It includes ...

"(a) In general.--A person who is a national of the United States whether by birth or naturalization, shall lose his or her nationality by voluntarily performing any of the following acts with the intention of relinquishing United States nationality ...

The reasonably well known connection between "native-born" and "by birth", as distinguished from "naturalized" comes from the 14th amendment, which offers only two categories of citizen. Born in the US (which is synonymous with "native-born") and subject to the jurisdiction being one, and naturalized being the other.

At any rate, this bill was offered for consideration by foreign-born Ted Cruz, who persistently asserts that he is not a naturalized citizen.

Separately, S.247 reads like a sop to me, on account of including the "intention of relinquishing United States nationality" language, which is tightly enforced by the courts - giving up US citizenship requires deliberate action and strict adherence to form, otherwise the courts will not find intention to relinquish. Assuming the bill passed, it would not increase anybody's risk of loss of nationality.
