Australias prime minister on Wednesday dismissed public concerns revealed by a U.S. opinion poll about a Chinese company leasing a strategically important port.
The Australian newspaper reported Wednesday that the U.S. State Department had polled Australians via test message about their opinions about Chinese company Landbridge securing a 99-year lease over the Port of Darwin.

There’s been quite a bit of talk about Turnbull being too far left for the normally center-right Liberals even before he took office. His wife is from Red China too.
Turnbull also has a lot of financial backing. I think his background should be scrutinised. Of course, it won’t be. That Liberal caucus, who put him in, are a load of dummies.
It’s not like a ChiCom company controls both ends of the Panama Canal or anything.

I recently concluded a two-week trip to Australia. I will note that even locals will chat up a storm over private investing in just about every major town of the country. The Chinese are funding hotel construction, condos, vacation resorts, etc. The gut feeling from one Aussie I talked to is that they’ve got tons of money in their pocket and wisely know not to bring it back into China because of gov’t policy and taxation. So, they invest it into something of value.
Now, if you asked me....will this eventually lead to excess apartments and buildings, with no profit being generated for the Chinese investor? Oh, absolutely yes. It’ll bring some recession to Australia somewhere down the line.
But the Aussie political figures are happy because there’s construction going on and people are employed. And there’s still roughly 350,000 immigrants allowed legally into Australia every year.
