The Queen did not approve of the legalisation of same-sex marriage, the Daily Mail can reveal today.
While in favour of civil partnerships, as a woman of deep Christian faith she took a different view on the legislation allowing same-sex couples to marry.
She expressed her frustration to a friend at the height of the controversy, but admitted she was powerless to intervene, saying: I can only advise and warn.
The friend said: It was the marriage thing that she thought was wrong, because marriage ought to be sacrosanct between a man and a woman.

Go “Queenie” !!
The real Queen is not so fond of other queens or at least those who make a mockery of traditional marriage.
Good thing for her that she works in the UK. If she worked in the USA, and spoke such a view, she’d be out of a job.
Good, now stand up to the bearded savages invading your country!
So do we, but that didn’t stop the ‘globalists’ running our Country to make it law now did it?
Aye, what’s all this then? Thanks, Mum!
Queen Elizabeth is a living, breathing, real life anachronism. Aside from the relatively few practicing Anglicans, who cares what she says or does.?
Be nice, she stopped that brain-dead Charles from taking power : )
That's the whole idea of the gay marriage movement; to make a mockery of that which ought to be sacrosanct.
I challenge anyone to prove me wrong. Civil unions would've given the gay mafia all the legal protections which they said they wanted. But they rejected it for the reason stated.
SO WHAT
Elton John may be married but he’ll never be the queen of England

Excellent post!
She had her chance to “veto” marriage redefinition, and she blew it. I couldn’t care less what she says now.

Ha!
True! “But he IS considered to be queen of his castle’.
From the article:
“The Queens frustration emerged at the height of the controversy, during a conversation at the home of one of her oldest friends.
The friend said: I said to her, couldnt she do something about it, and she replied: I cant. I can only advise and warn.
Intriguingly, she was quoting the great Victorian constitutionalist Walter Bagehot, who set down the accepted limit by which the monarch can influence Parliaments decisions.”
I’m expecting a sharply-phrased, angry new song from Morrissey any minute now...
The “gay marriage” gambit was aimed at (1) getting government benefits that were intended to support families, and (2) creating a fictitious “right” that would then be used to demonize anyone who refused to sign onto the “pride” bandwagon. Try to find any politician who is willing to unequivocally oppose the granting of marriage to homosexuals. The GOP is now in the “the courts have ruled it’s time to move on” phase of capitulation.
Oh yes! I had forgotten! Hail the Queen.
Quite honestly, I DO hope she lives a long, long time. I always appreciate her words.
Side story:
My mother, husband and I went to Kenya one Christmas. We were living in the middle east and it was just too far to go home. So my mother joined us and we went to Kenya.
There is a FAMOUS hotel there called "TREETOPS." The hotel is IN THIS HUGE OLD TREE, with the various VERY small "rooms" in the branches.
Well, my mother entered hers and there was a SNAKE in the room. Yikes!!! So, the end story is that the "hotel" was fully booked and the ONLY "room" available was the "room" saved for Queen Elizabeth! So, my sweet old mother got to spend her stay at "TREETOPS" in the "room" saved for the QUEEN!!!
You know I couldn't have made that up.
Can I vote for her? Seems we fought the revolutionary war for nothing anyway.
