Chevy's 102 Volt sales may have led the Canadian plug-in electric vehicle market in February, and bring its national total to 5,611 units.
Up slightly from January's 94 sales, this was also the plug-in hybrid Volt's best-ever February in Canada, easily surpassing the 38 sold a year ago.
With the refreshed Volt and a deeper field of battery-electric vehicle competitors, there's a risk the company could face its first year-over-year sales decline this year - though with only two months gone, it may be far too early to predict doom and gloom for the world's most popular electric car.

Wow, five thousand units in all of Canada.
Make your reservation early.
Outside the coasts, Canada is COLD. Batteries don’t like COLD. Do these things have a block heater type option for Peace River and Fort. McMurray?
Run your Volt with heater on, lights on (it’s dark half the year during commute time), get stranded between Grane Prairie and Whitecourt, and hope a friendly logging truck will give you a lift.
Brrrr...
I wonder how long the batteries last and what’s the cost to replace them?
heh heh
Not many are sold outside of Vancouver, Montreal and Toronto, I’ll wager. And I don’t know how much they are subsidized, but I also bet they are.
Best-selling Canadian vehicles aren’t much different than the US: Pickups, Civic and Corolla, Escape and Rav4
What you DON’T see in Canada are full sized luxury cars or SUVs. I don’t know if it’s lack of $$$ or humility.
OTOH, a Leaf can get stranded.
Or taxes.
Even Camry-sized cars a much less popular in Canada.
The Volt has a 9 gallon gas tank, and at 42 MPG, if you get stranded, its your fault because you didn't pay attention to your gas gauge.
I was thinking of the Leaf when I typed that. This type of vehicle is still better suited for mild climates.
