I’m a great deal more skeptical, or open-minded the older I am. Ideas I accepted without question I tend to look at more critically now. I think I’m less attached to outcomes, although I’ve discovered some ideas and beliefs have withstood closer scrutiny. More than ever, I believe in the rights of the individual.
I try to notice what influences me.

I've known Hindus and Buddhists up, real close, and personal.
Here's where you are, CD7:
Thomas Merton: ROMAN CATHOLICS IN LOVE WITH EASTERN RELIGIONS
Snippet:
"The Vatican II Council in the 1960s opened the door for interfaith dialogue, and since then a growing number of Roman Catholic leaders have developed intimate relations with their counterparts in the pagan eastern religions, particularly Hindu, Buddhist, Tao, and Sufi. These Catholics have been paganized far more thoroughly than the pagans have been Romanized. Actually there is a great blending and merging going on throughout the religious world in preparation for the one world religion of the antichrist."
You have the spirit of the antichrist in your playpen, CD&, and it is there because The Holy Ghost is not. They are mutually exclusive. You've been captured by demonic forces, and they is using your posts for their promotion, by everything that the Bible says.
If this is compatible with Katholik doctrine, you're in a great problem, as you endorse both. There is only one way out, sir, and that is to flee as Joseph ran from Potophar's wife. If you can. Maybe it's too late. Gos says that His Spirit will not always struggle with that of a human.
Take heed, everyone!

If the Holy Spirit can fill the mind of a Christian, what, do you think will fill the mind of a lost soul?

You are right, Bro. Buddhism is a result of sin, brought forward within Noah's family, that passed on from the antediluvian culture, which took and perverted communion with The Elohim into cummunication (pejorative) with the Liar, that old Devil. Hinduism and Buddhism are old, old forms of this disjoint with God, found in one of the very oldest groups parting from Godly people and moving to Hindia. IIRC, the ancient Hindis are Semitic, eh? offshoots of the righteous line of Righteous Shem, a man of One God. Apparently it was his progeny that were the root of a culture believing in and consorting with the thousand faces of Satanic demons, hm? Obviously, they would have first access to the cunning persuaion of the Devil himself, to enlarge his eartly dominion as the god of this world.
Katholiks are prime territory for convincement by Thomas Merton and his ilk.
Thanks for your summary, HTRN.

A leftist commiepuke site like Slate, quoting commiepuke faggot psychologists, is so accurate, all thinking rational people should just slavishly swallow it whole!

Ah, Laz, why does He hate 'em if He made 'em? (Probably a part of Pesach, as, like horse
radish, one of the bitter roots?)
Just ponderin' . . . (Not holding anything against radishes. When you are growing some squash or watermelons, plant a couple of radish seeds with them, and the insects will go after the leaves of the earlier-germinating radish and keep the mites from ruining the squash plants. Bugs love radishes.)

This little publication boom (for that is all that it is, really,) was hatched long after I finished my degree and had gone on to the real world. But it is no surprise to me that the "depletion effect" is imaginary-- "will power" was never a useful explanatory concept in experimental psychology, just a popular term for a variety of motivational effects adequately explained by far more valid constructs.
Baumeister appears to have been a panderer from the start, using a catchy idea that appeals to the popular mind but has no source in empirical literature--seems to have just dreamed it up one day.
I have maintained for years that the real scientific psychology, of which there is an abundant body of knowledge, has been largely neglected by the field in favor of easy pseudoscience. Quite sad really.

Radishes are pretty good when they're fresh picked and iced down . . . esp wth Sunday dinner. There's always room for one more

The Holy spirit. Christians do not have a monopoly on it. If we did, there would be no human race.

(None of this implies deliberate fraud; just that sloppy standards prevail.)
I read this line and knew the author was still trying to protect his science "friends". Sloppy standards are the means used by fraudulent scientists to get the results which gets them the research grants.
ALL fields of science suffer from this, but the hard sciences can have real experiments which prove or disprove a theorem, and they can fix these kind of mistakes. Psychology is not a hard science and the practitioners have been able to set the experiments up to prove whatever they wanted.
I put evolutionary scientists and climatologists in the same category.

Another nonsense hit piece from Slate -- what a surprise. If psychology wanted to make an undeniable positive impact on society, it would be responsible for the rounding up and executions of the skepticultist dregs, all of whom are materialist-reductionist atheists, and regard a human as a walking, talking chemistry set.
