Congressman Adam Smith of Washington state wrote
The Wealth of Nations in 1776? What a long life he's had!
I almost stopped reading there.

Not to mention these same corporations are the ones who are using lower cost foreign labor home and abroad and lowering our living standards. They are also “working with the Democrats to get things done.”

Seems like that’s one of those auto-fill features that all Breitbart authors have to contend with. Obvious blunder.

Yeah. The government always needs to tell a company how much money they are allowed to make. And for you to earn.
Sounds great.

...and how many people they are allowed to kill and how many lives they are allowed to destroy to make those bucks. We need about 5% of Big Pharm. The rest are scum-sucking grifters moving from one disease to the next.

its easy to see that price-negotiation would become a de facto regime of price controls.Categorically BS. Paying the highest price for drugs by means of donor class payoffs to politicians is corruption.. I do know what that is.
No industry wants that, of course, and neither should any innovation-conscious consumer.
This guy is out of his mind.

Absolutely, we need to be more like the countries that use price controls to read their pharma industries the
riot act. They don't bring any new drug therapies to market. Since 80%-90% of all new drugs are discovered in the US, what could possibly go wrong?
Who needs a golden goose pipeline when we have so many of today's diseases under control? Antibiotics wiped out bacterial infections, and viruses no longer mutate. Cancer is almost cured and as the baby boomers age, they'll be more than happy with what's available today. Drugs for people, not for profit!

Why exactly, does big pharma need to be read the "riot act?" Isn't this the style of the current President, sticking his nose into business he doesn't understand?
It's strange that a Presidential candidate who's made much of his campaign about keeping illegals out of the US, has no issues about opening the borders to drugs from other countries. He talks a good talk about keeping jobs here in America, but with his plans, has no qualms about inflicting potential job losses in the pharmaceutical industry.

Yeah. The government always needs to tell a company how much money they are allowed to make. And for you to earn. It's no wonder the country is going down the tubes. You haven't a freakin' clue do you?
Ever think that we should get the best value for our tax dollars... or are you so sold on graft, kick-backs and donor controlled politics as just part of the system.
Ever hear that buying in volume gets a better price. Isn't that what everyone else does, including Walmart? Why should taxpayers pay more?
Do you really understand capitalism and how our country is supposed to work.

Job losses because the government doesn't pay top dollar for drugs? Next it will be... job losses because the government doesn't pay billions for cost overruns... or job losses because we cut the IRS or the EPA or the Department of Education.
Can't get the best price for anything without job losses. Hey! How about we can't cut out the corruption because there will be job losses for lobbyists.

Yeah, like the one telling you that government price controls are in the consumers best interest.
They used to teach Economics and the Constitution in school. Lots of illiterates out there believing that government is best suited for managing the free market. Utopia is just one more bureaucrat away.
