Idaho pastor, 55, shot six times in his church's parking lot a day after giving the opening prayer

An Idaho pastor was shot and critically wounded in the parking lot of his church just a day after he prayed with Ted Cruz and delivered the invocation at one of his campaign rallies this weekend.

Tim Remington, 55, was shot six times - including in the head, lung, hip and shoulder - in front of the nondenominational Altar Church in Coeur d'Alene.

Police said Kyle Andrew Odom, 30, is the suspected shooter. He remains at large and is considered armed and dangerous.

John Padula, an associate pastor at the church, said surveillance footage captured the shooter attending the morning services before waiting for Remington in his silver car, he told KHQ.

Padula said the shooter then went up to Remington as he opened his car door and 'just started shooting him in the back'.

'It didn't look like the first time he had shot,' Padua told The Spokesman-Review. 'He stood pretty professional as he was shooting'.

Remington's status was reported as stable late Sunday night, according to NBC News.

Padula said Remington was doing 'absolutely fine' in the hospital and escaped any life-threatening injuries.

Matthew Remington, the pastor's nephew, said he was conscious after getting shot and was able to talk to emergency workers on the way to the hospital, he told KTVB.

A spokeswoman for Cruz's campaign released a statement following news of the shooting.

'Our prayers are with Pastor Tim, his family, and the doctors who are supervising his care,' it read.

'We pray for his full recovery and are thankful for the efforts of law enforcement to ensure the attacker is swiftly brought to justice.'

Remington delivered the opening prayer at a rally Cruz held at the Kootenai County Fairgrounds on Saturday.

May not have anything to do with being associated with Cruz.

Could be prior problems, no reasons posted that I could see.

Not exactly making headlines. If he had given the prayer for Hillary or Bernie it would be not stop coverage.

I read in an article that this pastor is the type who will literally open his home to homeless people. That may be laudable, but it certainly ramps up some risk factors as many of those folks just ain’t right anymore, if they ever were.

Prayers for the man, whatever the background to this incident. Clearly it’s not his time just yet.

Let's not talk any politics over this tragedy. We can all be united in praying for his recovery and that God’ might watch over his family. And that law enforcement might get the animal that has done this!

“”Authorities do not yet have a motive for the shooting but Padula said he has received threats over the years from addicts he has tried to help.

Remington is director of the faith-based Good Samaritan Rehabilitation drug and alcohol residential program. He has been known to invite recovering addicts to live with him and his family in the past.””

It is a risk in dealing with ‘some street’ people apparently they are where they are for some reason.

I have friends (especially Ladies) who live alone and try to caution them to be aware of ALL surroundings at ALL times, especially when entering a vehicle. (cfeo)

Prayers up from this house!!!

Agree, it hasn’t gotten much coverage and would have gotten more if it had been associated or linked to another candidate.

Thanks for your concern!

The guy who shot him appears to have served in the Marine Corps:

Could just be a guy dealing with a lot of really bad issues. He appears to have served in the Marine Corps. https://www.facebook.com/kyle.odom.7902

Could be politically motivated as well. Who knows at this point?

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3405957/posts Parishioners of the Church tell KXLY that the pastor is Tim Remington and that he was shot in the back seven times.

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3406017/posts Police told NBC station KHQ of Spokane, Washington that when officers arrived shortly before 2 p.m. (5 p.m. ET), they found a man with several gunshot wounds.

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3406057/posts Remington’s nephew Matthew and other church members told KREM that Remington was shot four times in the back as he walked to his car.

And your article: Idaho pastor, 55, shot six times in his church’s parking lot a day after giving the opening prayer

There’s a lesson there on not trusting early reports - was he shot four, six, or seven times? In any case, it’s disgusting to shoot someone in the back, and I hope they catch the thug and lock him up forever (or better, until a date with Old Sparky).

Let's not talk any politics over this tragedy.

Why?

Is Lady Heron wrong? Would not the MSM give it wall to wall coverage if he'd prayed at a hildabeast or burnie event?

Why are you afraid of telling, or even hearing, the truth?

Let's not lie to ourselves in the name of political correctness, even if only by omission.

I DO NOT trust ‘many lsm’ reports, early or late! :)

Did not look around for verification or to authenticate the article. It did come from London, sometime their reporting of our news here is superior to the local and others.

Thanks for the lesson! Just posted what the DailyMail had written.

Can we agree that he was shot in the back? I wasn’t there and have no personal knowledge.

Not sure what lesson you wish for me to learn. I am at this point a little taken aback with that line.

In my 80 plus years have learned many lessons, am learning daily, have endless lessons to learn, the more lessons learned realize how little I have learned and hope to have a continuation of learning lessons for at least a couple of more days!

I hope you did not mean the lesson to be learned by posting an article as I seem to be taking it.

If so I will have learned another lesson in the process of learning lessons. :)

By the way did do a search for the article posted just a few seconds prior to posting and there were none, that is one lesson learned when seeing duplicate post just minutes apart.

Thanks?

If I may, think he was trying to keep the shooting of an individual, pastor, sober and respectful and not let the thread devolve like some political discussions.

Another imo, to keep the dialogue on topic. Shooter, Pastor shot and information in that manner. It would be nice to have that here, if possible.

Also included them due to the posts were between them.

Thanks!

Take care.........pilgrim

...in the wake of another post (pulled) that was less sober and respectful. (I think the source itself was the issue (it was definitely AN issue, don't know for sure it was THE issue; I only saw a couple of replies, and then it was gone.)

Prayers for the pastor. Awaiting further info on the shooter. No political hay to be made here, even if the guy did happen to support one of the other candidates.

Thanks!

I always do a search on the ‘copyrightlist’

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1111944/posts

visually and a ctrl’ f search and found nothing for DailyMail then when posting is has to be excerpted.

Like to see threads stay on topic and especially when there is someone hurt and prayers needed.

Prayers as the day unfolds!
