Why is a 30 year mortgage at 3.5%. That is a big spread between the Feds discount 0.5% and the 30 year. Because when they try to jack it up any more than that, people stop buying altogether.

Seems the historic average between the discount rate and the 30 rate was 2%. Seems the the 30 years is 1.5% too high historically.
