Rush tipped on his radio show last week that he'd be on Faux, but I don't think he's planning on making a habit of sitting in there. I'm sure he knows their rep is declining among Rush's own audience.
Besides, if he accidentally bumped into Megyn Kelly, there might be a spontaneous explosion that levelled the building.
The obvious difference being that Goldwater pushed for libertarian principles. Trump has always, and continues to, push only for self-adoration. He has no principles, conservative or otherwise. In case his advocacy for “single payer” takeover of healthcare and for what would be the largest single tax hike in US history don’t make his lack of conservative principles sufficiently clear....
While my wife's Brit friend was here she never spent a dime to compensate us for anything. She also said that WWII would have ended sooner if we had just given them money and stayed out of the conflict. My wife's dad was decorated veteran of WWII. He stayed in the army all the way into the late 1960s. He received the silver star from Montgomery himself whom he always had a very low opinion of... My wife may have made a few remarks that offended her Brit friend after that which might be how she justified her thievery.
We haven't felt nearly as bad about the Brits letting Muslims take over their country as we did before her friend came to visit. I think that the best and brightest young men they had were killed during WWI and WWII and it has negatively affected their gene pool. This could be a problem that has plagued all of Europe.
I was in high school and all of 16 when I pitched Barry to my daddy. He just sat there with his drink with a look on his face like he was hearing me recite my a-b-c's or sing for the first time. He was very proud of me and it showed in his face, but he didn't say anything, just kept listening while I banged the drum for old AuH2O. I think he might have remained quiet out of deference to my then only-recently deceased grandfather, who was a lifelong "lunchbucket Democrat" and an Al Smith man, who might after all have been listening. ;)
Actually, both libertarian and social conservatives trace back to Goldwater, and most especially to a position speech he gave in May, 1964, in which it becomes clear that both strains of conservatism were united in him.
This tends to get lost in the libertarian/social conservative split that one sees nowadays. But that in turn owes almost totally to the defeasance of the e-GOP and libertarians, who don't want to shoulder the load of keeping society from going to hell.
I agree 100%.. Trump is Genuine.. I’ve observed Cruz to be a big fat phony.
I didn't see any of the talking-head shows this morning until Georgie Steponallofus came on, and his show was amputated by the breaking announcement from California about Nancy Reagan.
The news programette about the Reagans in turn was upcut (downcut? offcut?) by the local ABC affiliate, which cut away for the start of Joel Osteen's services (he's actually on two channels here, at two different times).
When it's time for Rev. Osteen, it's time for Rev. Osteen!! He's got way more swing than Judge Wapner. </off "Rain Man" references>
I’m going on 60 yrs old.. I remember proudly wearing a ‘Goldwater for President’ pin to school.. I was ridiculed by an older kid on the playground. I remember thinking to myself.. Wow.. she must have awful parents.
btt
Yes, I’ve heard these silly remarks about Yanks in WWII. Now many Brits are convinced that it was Russia and only Russia who intervened and helped them. It’s why I tend to have no patience when I get stuck next to one at a dinner party. I am planning a trip to GB this year. I do love the history of England and find the Brits in GB are generally much, much nicer than those that resettle or visit in the USA. They get really condescending really quick!
Here is what tears me up about the worst case scenario.
Personally, I am in rebellion against the GOPE/UniParty, and TRUMP is their worst nightmare, which means he is also Hillary’s worst nightmare, if you believe the two parties are together UniParty corrupt and are now UniParty deal makers strictly in business to serve their own mutual interest, for increasing their own wealth and power through globalist donors, who are continuing the quiet development of a North American Union.
I see no reason to take out TRUMP, who is obviously the most dreaded by the entire DC Establishment and globalists around the world, and remove him from his nomination, because of GOPE fears and because of Cruz ambition, just because TRUMP is a threat for bringing back the “old” America to greatness, and to possibly even uniting us with the odd alliance of Democrats and Republicans, through moderates, and non-evangelicals and fiscal conservatives, even the Bernie Sanders types, who are disenchanted by the Establishment on both sides, and also hate Hillary.
Nobody dreads Cruz, except for his colleagues and everyone he ever worked, for or with. Apparently, he campaigns on the theory that if all states remain the same as 2012, and he brings out those who refused to check the Romney box in ‘12, that he could win.
But he loses that bet. Romney blew off his base, both the Religious Right and the fiscal conservatives. Romney in Mass., betrayed the religious liberty tradition of Republicans with forced birth control on Catholics there, and ushered in gay marriage proponents, and the infamous cram down of socialized medicine, dubbed Romneycare. Romney blew up the party.
Cruz has not and will not win that Romney gap that was formulated in ‘12, by appealing only to Evangelicals.
TRUMP overcomes the gap by appealing to advocates of religious liberty, anti-abortion, and also calms the resistance of moderate democrats who are teeeeeed off about millions of illegals as a security risk, and taking jobs, lowering wages, and being a burden to our tax base, school system and medical system, LAW ENFORCEMENT, and every other public institution.
My own bet is that Cruz loses to Hillary, who will beat him on his preachy version of Evangelicalism, as a turn off to secular voters who are now amassed in this country as never before, and Hillary herself is as tolerant as Cruz is for the illegals to be legalized and eventually made citizens on the slippery slope. Cruz is not to the right on that issue of the 20 million already here. He is quite ready to keep them and turn them into future Democrat voters, except for the “felons” who are “apprehended”.
For the sake of wounded feeling Cruz supporters, sure, I could vote for Cruz against Hillary, but I would do so knowing he will not win and accepting the loss of ALL chance at Supreme Court pick(s).
It is in that coming Cruz loss, we can look back and see we let the Establishment kill off the only gladiator on the field, and with our help— TRUMP.
Well said, Rita. Imho, Cruz cannot win against Hillary. Trump is our only hope..
I agree.
Holy cow.
No wonder Mitt R. is going crazy. He would not want somebody win the nomination who will not bend down to radicals.
Baker was on with a tribute today to Nancy. He said that the situation today was very similar to the atmosphere when Reagan was running. Just a bit more colorful (with a big grin)
Looks like there were a few of us good Americans around back then!
Thank God for good families.
