Just applying a little context to the absolutist post by nopardons I quoted and to which I replied. And historically minded Freepers know well that there would have been many, while he was a living lawyer turned pol, on both sides of the Mason-Dixon line, who would have agreed with the quote. But time and history have returned that sleazing onto its senders.

Although his quote isn't the only statement in this thread in need of historical context. Ever since the physical swamp of DC was drained, a couple hundred years ago, it's had plenty of swamp denizens and you could practically always find someone who'd claim they were in charge. And I don't think you really wanted to use that "high roller disciples" reference considering the only gambling connection in the current political discussion is Trump's.
