Tax payments are currently made out to United States Treasury. That hasn't always been the case. Maybe only for the last ten, 15, 20 years

Before that, hey were made out to Internal Revenue Service. I remember the change because it drew a question in my mind.

Look at a 1040. It says right at the top..."Department of the Treasury - Internal Revenue Service".

Nothing will change. Call it whatever you want. It's our tax system and you're gonna pay. It's the nuts and bolts that have to change...
