Donald Trump Reverses Position On Torture, Killing Terrorists' Families
By Ryan Browne March 4, 2016
His position seems to have shifted dramatically in less than 24 hours During Thursday night's debate, Trump reaffirmed his willingness to target the families of terrorists
Washington (CNN)Republican front-runner Donald Trump said Friday that he would not order the U.S. military to violate international laws to fight terrorism, a stark reversal from his statements at Thursday's Republican debate.
Trump said in a statement that he understands "that the United States is bound by laws and treaties" and said he would "not order our military or other officials to violate those laws and will seek their advice on such matters."
He added, "I will not order a military officer to disobey the law. It is clear that as president I will be bound by laws just like all Americans and I will meet those responsibilities."
The statement was first reported in The Wall Street Journal.
His position seems to have shifted dramatically in less than 24 hours.
During Thursday night's debate on Fox News, Trump reaffirmed his willingness to target the families of terrorists and supported the use of waterboarding, implying a willingness to use torture. "We should go for waterboarding and we should go tougher than waterboarding," he said.

“They’ll obey this guy”.
They are desperate to find something to attack Trump over and are just making themselves look even more shameless and unprincipled that usual.
Of course he did. Then tomorrow he will have evolved yet again.
Oh brother. We always knew that Trump would talk with the military leaders and then give an order. Stop with these nonsense articles PLEASE.
Donald Trump Reverses Position On....
1) Torture
2) H1-B visas
3) Funding his general election campaign
4) Attending CPAC

Dancing Donald.
I don’t think it is a real change so much as not having a clue about military law or rules of engagement to begin with. Trump obviously got educated and the position evolved. Glad to hear it.
“They are desperate to find something to attack Trump”
No desperation needed.. Trump’s own penchant for flip-flopping on any given subject is fodder enough. What again does he stand for?
This is consistent with what Trump has been saying. Trump never said he would violate any laws. If a terrorist family is an accomplice in a crime they will be punished. The Trump haters try to spin everything. The public is wise and his leads keep growing.
“Evolved”...
Now where have we heard THAT before...
It was bound to happen once Trumps advisors told him to stop the schtick and start acting ‘presidential’. He simply cannot.
The electorate is now aware of media games and are on to media smears and twisting of statements.
Trump merely said he would abide by the Geneva Conventions. He mentioned nothing about reversing on torture, especially waterboarding.
I am not sure waterboarding is categorized as torture. I am not sure anything that would be done to a murderous prisoner would not somehow be categorized by the left as torture. Is sleep deprivation torture?
If getting a prisoner to talk would save countless lives, how can certain nonlethal means of getting information be categorized as torture?
Gray area here.

How is it “spin” when Trump himself reversed his position?
Except we saw legions of Trump supporters praise him on what he said earlier.
Yet another nothingburger. You ‘people’ just don’t quit.
More like clarifying a concept not easily & thoroughly addressed in a sound bite media forum.
