Army veteran fired from CVS after trying to stop robbery

When two suspects tried robbing a Maryland CVS on Friday, Army veteran Joe Morici sprang into action.

And it cost him his job.

Morici, who served seven years in the Army, including a stint in Afghanistan, was fired from his management job at a Beltsville CVS because he intervened and tried to catch the men, FOX5 reported.

But Morici said his reactions were purely based on instinct when two men tried robbing the CVS pharmacy during his shift.

He quickly told cashiers to call 911 and helped an elderly man out of the store before locking the doors, preventing the suspects from leaving. Then he confronted them.

I think your response is not credible because you ignore reality in favor of “rules” designed by lawyers to protect against other lawyers that then are implemented by naive spineless execs at the insistence of bottom line and bottom feeding insurance companies.

You say “this is not Germany”. That’s a convenient brush off of an argument you know you can’t win. Namely, you would prefer and I would prefer and all but some extreme pacifist wacko would prefer that Joe Morci step in and defend his wife and daughter. No one with a straight face can look you in the eye and say “you should follow the rules and do nothing if my wife and daughter are molested right in front of you in your CVS store”.

CVS, it’s lawyers and the Insurance company lawyers and its execs are full of it and hypocrites as they know in their soul that they hope another Joe Morci is around to break their stupid rules if it is their wife and kid that is being molested. The whole discussion from their perspective is ludicrous on its face.

I live in Davao City, in the Philippines. Every store has armed security. Banks will have 3-5 and sometimes more. They carry sidearms of all types, and many will sport pistol-grip shotguns and even "assault weapons".

Driving into any mall or other area, you can expect o be searched for IED's or whatever. Not much, but it happens. I enjoy a happy life here. Davao is one of the safest cities in the world!
