I lived in Alabama for 30 years and never even MET anyone in the KKK or heard of anyone joining it.
However, Oliver Robinson posts daily hate-whites racists posts on his Facebook page and the world is silent.

Robert Byrd was a Grand Kleagle, not a Grand Wizard.
Nonetheless he was ignorant racist trash who the Democrat Party idolized for his entire life.

On a less flippant note, this is painful as Republicans have never had a history of racism. We were the people who passed the civil rights laws in the 60’s and the people who formed a Party dedicated to freeing the slaves.
It was democrats who ran the Jim Crow South... and if you look at the records of elected Democrat racists, you'll see they did NOT change party. They stayed Democrat. They only
‘change’ was choice of victim. It went from ‘blacks’ to ‘conservatives’... same tactics, same thuggery, different choice of victim.
I've known democrat racist, but never a conservative racist... this guy's bought the kool aid...

“Republicans shut down the Democrats filibuster of the 1964 civil rights act and got it passed.”
Goldwater opposed the 1964 civil rights act. As did Reagan.
Not sure why so many want to celebrate Lyndon Johnson’s Rockefeller wing allies in the GOP. Maybe because they hear Rush and Hannity doing it.

Do you REALLY want to compare the current Republican candidates quotes, supported causes and policy stances with Hillary Clinton? We can play that game; chances are many Cruz haters won;t like the results, because it doesn’t reflect well on their candidate of choice.

>> they allowed Donald Trump to demand the President show his birth certificate <<
That in a nutshell demonstrates the totalitarian mindset. It is not enough to repudiate an opposing point of view. You have to completely stifle any inklings of dissent. The birth certificate issue may be silly but the fact is any opposition to Obama would be viewed as racist.

Man, what a historically illiterate dummy.
The KKK was, in fact, a quasi-appendage of the Democratic Party. It was NEVER republican in any sense.

as to cruz comment, there is no reason ever to even SEEM to LOOK like as if you are not against kkk, which is what djt did on national tv.
so as djt supporters do not misunderstand (if they have read this far) I did not say he was not against the kkk but he did not react as being against it in the interview. In real life it can be corrected in politics it hangs about ones neck like an millstone.
It would be as if you said.. “well there may have been good people that fought in the Waffen SS I would not want to condemn them all unfairly” which is at true statement but in Politics what will be replayed is “Candidate does not condemn worst of Nazi’s”
