Usually in a case where there is nothing, or very little, a suspect will ask for immunity because they are on the hook for something minor and they are promising a bigger fish. Often, they don’t cough anything up, which is why it is risky to give in to a request for amnesty.
However, when the prosecutor is convinced that the person can give up someone bigger, they can remove the 5th amendment shield and force immunity on a witness. The witness then faces the chance of perjury and losing immunity if convicted.
If Pagliano has had immunity forced on him, then the investigators know without a doubt that they have a strong case against Clinton.
Note that it says he was granted immunity, not that he requested it. As I understand it, this can be done against his wishes.
So this doesn’t mean he’s going to provide the information. Considering who we are dealing with here, he may well be willing to go to jail rather than talk.
Immunity from Arkanicide, too?
Very interesting....you know....FR is an eternal continuing ed. class in Civics.....Thanks for the explanation.
Does he want to be Web Hubbell Jr? Probably not, would be my guess....although jail might be his own personal ‘safe space’, given who he is dealing with.
Looks like someone’s going to suffer from a previously undiagnosed heart disease.
The FBI wants to make sure that they have all answers to questions they ask HRC.
Sure...during her deposition they need answers to such questions,
"How would you like your tea, Secretary Clinton? Lemon or milk?"
"Why thank you. I'll just have a tall iced tea..."
...make that Long Island style."
snark
But was Mr. Pagliano immunized against Arkancide?
