Mitt Romney is doing Donald Trump a BIG favor by attacking
Washington Post ^ | 3/2/2016 | Chris Cillizza

This, you might think to yourself, is, finally, the moment when the establishment -- such as it is -- stands up to Trump, screaming "enough" at the top of its lungs and, in so doing, bringing the party back from the brink of an total electoral disaster.

You would be, almost certainly, totally wrong. In fact, being attacked by Romney is more likely to cement Trump's hold on the nomination than loosen his grip on it. Here's why.

Romney is the face of the establishment. He's just the sort of guy the party loves -- a measured statesman who views running for office as a civic duty. He's "serious." He has "gravitas." He is "trustworthy" and "steady."

He's also the embodiment of everything Trump has built his entire campaign against. Romney is too cautious, too mannerly, not tough enough for Trump's taste. He's the face of a Republican Party that lost twice to Barack Obama. He's part of the problem, not the solution.

Mitt’s diss energized Trump’s base and raises sympathy from others.

Yup, Trump's solidly back in as my #2...just don't tell my wife! lmao

Consider this analysis of Mr. Thompson from Atlas Shrugged, and the edit that follows:

Mr. Thompson is both indistinguishable and unimaginative. He's the product of the looters' system: afraid of change, indecisive, and greedy. And he's clearly unable to think outside of that system when he encounters Galt.

Mr. Romney is both indistinguishable and unimaginative. He's the product of the looters' system: afraid of change, indecisive, and greedy. And he's clearly unable to think outside of that system when he encounters Trump.

Sometimes, I wonder if they know this. Romney, et al, are not stupid.

No chit. If Romney's all they got, they have tacitly admitted defeat.

Hey Mitch McConnell - while you were in in the bathroom gazing at your navel, the party got bored and moved down to Trump's place. You aren't the Republican Party any more, and mini Mitt will be the proverbial Final Straw.

I have been a serious fence sitter, Cruz Vs Trump....watching, waiting...but this may have finally pushed me...but I have till May to decide. What fries me is what others have said...if only the GOPe had gone after Dems as vociferously...

We are. The smartest people in the GOP have figured out this terrific strategy.

Yes, he is. What I do not get is why the GOPe have not figured it out yet. How stupid do you have to be to not understand by now it is you the voters are hugely angry at and the only way to survive with any power is to shut up and work with the winner at this point.

What really bothers me about Trump are those class action law suits proceeding against him for his deceptive business practices that nobody is paying attention to. These suits are gong to be popping up right in the middle of the presidential campaign.

It is something we do not really need particularly when the opponent should be the federal slammer or at minimum impeached. Unfortunately wishing away those law suits or those charges do not cut it and almost appears that the real reason he is offering his candidacy is one way to bulldoze those charges.

Frankly it is with great sadlness and dissapointment and I wish I was not forced to make these observations . But it is better to bring this out now rather than in the middle of this very important campaign.

Well as in the case of the New York lawsuit, Trump won 90% of the suit in appeals but it was spun that he lost. 7 of 8 charges were lost by the plaintiff.

In the suit in California, some of the plaintiffs now want out of the lawsuit.

I would not worry about it too much not when Hillary has the magnitude of problems she has. We are talking civil suits not criminal.

Obama has always owned the GOP, and they know their master. BTW, there is no GOPe. That’s a fiction for those in denial of what we have today: Dems aka as communists and Republicans aka as socialists.

The only “Republican” I would trust is one who repudiates the Republican party, and would just as much do without it. If a Republican doesn’t openly admit to this, then yes he too is a traitor.

“If only the GOPe would fight Obama as hard as they fight Trump and Cruz.”

That’ll never happen...because if it does, and they lose, then they will have violated the agreement that they have with the Dems, and they’ll lose their place at the trough.

And we - the filthy, uneducated and uncultured peasants, have finally figured this out. We won’t be as tough on you lying, traitorous arseholes as French peasants were on their royalty, but you jackholes are OUT OF A JOB!

Buh-bye, and don’t let the door hit you in the ass on the way out!

I heard two separate talk show hosts today say that if only Romney had been this passionate in fighting Obama and Democrats in 2012, we would have been spared a second Obama term.
But they are less afraid of losing yet another election to Democrats than losing their power over the minority part, and they are losing it precisely because they ignored their base except to make promises they would not deliver.
An opposition party that won’t oppose the other side is useless, and playing “Democrat lite” is redundant.

Wow, the loser rejects of RINO Central come out screaming in panic that Trump will take the party down.

Why are they so panicked? They planned to lose all along.

Just not with Trump at the helm of the GOP.

McInsane and Mittens are the face of the GOP that couldn’t beat the worst President in American history.

And they warn us Trump is a disaster. Thanks but no thanks for the unsolicited advice from the guys who helped to inflict Obama upon America.

They need to STFU and just go away.

I just contributed to McAinal's opponent in Arizona!
