Former GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney thinks "Donald Trump is a phony, a fraud" and that he's "playing the American public for suckers," according to prepared remarks provided by Romney to CNN.
According to the former Massachusetts governor, "the only serious policy proposals that deal with the broad range of national challenges we confront have come from Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio and John Kasich."
Romney is expected to remark on some what-ifs about Trump becoming president. "His domestic policies would lead to recession. His foreign policies would make America and the world less safe. He has neither the temperament nor the judgment to be president," Romney is expected to say.
Romney will also touch on a "twisted example of evil trumping good: "Trump's claims that he admires Russian President Vladimir Putin while calling "George W. Bush a liar."

Good for you—I hope someone on Trump’s staff is reading FR—there is a gold mine of materials and ideas here.
“Phony, fraud”
Throw in “fake” and we’ve got Mitt channeling Bob Grant.
It appears the GOPe fed us a few days of stand-up by Rubio, now Romney is bastardizing Ronald Reagan, perhaps followed in a few days with McCain going after the GOP front-runner. None of this would be happening without Reinse Priebus’ knowledge and approval.
The GOP is in full meltdown.
Sticks and stones, cultist...
“. . . sneak candidate at a brokered convention.”
Vote splitter that insures a Clinton victory? What a
traitor!
i agree with you that Romney NEVER fought against libs but I’m worried that I see the same thing out of trump.
he takes swings at conservatives or republicans, which in the heat of the primary I get, but he also but kisses ALOT of libs and that is beyond worrisome.
I’ve never seen them get this panicked over Obama or Hillary.
They’ve never been that worried about the folks on the other side of the aisle.
But Trump is a mortal threat to the Republic who must be stopped cold.
well I'm not sure what the domestic policies for the last 7 years have brought, but it sure isn't prosperity. In fact we have fallen so much further in debt that I doubt anyone can bring us back to prosperity.
But if we don't secure our borders and make the Constitution the law of the land again we will continue down the path to ruin.
Strange that Mitt has official now attacked Trump more than he attacked Obama during his own bid for the Presidency. No wonder he generated little enthusiasm for people to actually go vote for him.
Some want to criticize Trump as not supporting Republicans, but he has, including Romney. The truth is that those whom he supported are now unwilling to return that support. No wonder so many of us have lost faith in the Republican Party. They have screwed us over repeatedly, and now they are screwing over their very own frontrunner. They say this is because Donald will ruin the Republican brand. News flash for you there GOPe, you did that all on your own, and Mitt has just pounded in the final nail of your coffin as far as I am concerned. After this election is over I am re-registering as an Independent..
Trump paid his dues. Yet this is how he gets repaid.
Romney praises Cruz along with Rubio and Kasich. But if Trump were not in the race, I suspect that Romney, like the rest of GOPe, would focus his venom on Cruz. This hostility is unwarranted. From an insider like Romney, it disdains the GOP base as well as their chosen candidate.
It is becoming obvious that the GOPe would rather lose the presidency, at the expense of the country, rather than lose control of the party.
And they never will unless the lamp posts in their neighborhood start getting decorated.
Let the GOPe lose. They don’t need me and I don’t need them.
+1
Totally agree.
“Some have become too friendly with the GOPe”
I don’t like it a bit, from any of them. However, it was Trump who openly stated a couple of months ago (paraphrasing) “we’re gonna be a little bit establishment...is that okay?”
He forgot “con man”.
The current GOPe talking points.
Rubio and GOPe now running KKK ads in Missouri
Obviously he is as far away from establishment as Pluto is from the Sun or else there would not be this unprecedented effort to get rid of him.
At this point, everything the GOPe does to him, is what they will do to anyone here if you “get out of line”.
I agree. We worked hard for many years & paid our way in
all ways including Social Security. Husband still sells on
Ebay & works every day that the Lord sends working that
project. - When that ancient Senator blasted us retirees
for Social Security when he had been completely ON THE DOLE
just about all his life, I lost my lunch. Then he retired
rich as Cresus still bashing us Social Security “recipients”
instead of the total welfare queens who live every moment
of their miserable lives on welfare, some also shoplift to
augment. They’ve also produced “Obama Sons” to shoplift
and hold up liquor stores. :o/
